Cool.It is Microsoft's next operating system.
3 years from now it will be the standard...
But your customers aren't going to be running a linux or unix distro.![]()
So when they ask you to fix their vista machine, or consult them, and you tell them to use linux, they'll be likeyou're fired.
I'm sure that my work PC will be a Vista box.
You'll be vistaowned son. Sort of like how you're bigdylowned.

A Windows Vista Premium Ready PC includes at least:
1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor1.
1 GB of system memory.
Support for DirectX 9 graphics with a WDDM driver, 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum)2, Pixel Shader 2.0 and 32 bits per pixel.
40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space.
DVD-ROM Drive3.
Audio output capability.
Internet access capability

wtf ...15 gb free space for just installation or what??? or for swapping and good performance and stuff...
Nah, It only requires 8 gigs of space for install. The vista ISO is 2.7 gig's compressed, and decompresses to about 7.8 ish.
I'm running vista ultimate, RC 1.

I dug up an old geforce ti 4200 card, and I'm dl'n the forceware x86 vista drivers for it to see if I can get aero and winflip 3d working.
Build 5728 is up on connect, if you're interested.
So far I like Vista, I'll probably the the premium home edition for my personal pc, but doubt I'll upgrade my office systems right away. I like that it will all be on one DVD, so if I ever feel I want to go up to ultimate, it's only a click away.![]()
even IE runs smooth.
