I thought the same thing. 75mph impact to the left rear quarter would have sheared the entire ass-end off the car. It is plausable that he lost control at 75, slid sideways and decelerated to the poiont where he made contact.

In truth, he was probably traveling 30mph at the point of impact (if that much).

He could have been going 75, lost control and then hit the breaks, bleeding off some speed. But yeah, there's no way he was doing 75 when he hit. I hit a pole head on doing about 30 and tore the engine off its mounts.

I was replying to someone's comment. Meaning that type of damage is easily possible at 75 if he clipped a light pole or swiped up against it. He didn't say he was flew sideways directly into it.

Shit man, just look at the picture. You can see where the light-pole embedded itself into the quarterpanel. It's pretty apparent he came to a dead-stop at impact.

Speaking of forensics, I just took a shit and it was only one log but some how the two ends fused together and it formed a perfect doughnut shape. How is this possible? I swear to god it looked like something from Krispy Kreme. I should have taken a damn picture, or auctioned it off on ebay or something.

I've been in plenty of accidents with other people going anywhere from 50-70 and the damage has been less. You can have a severe dent in the car and still riccochet (sp?) off of the object that caused the dent. You don't have to come to a complete stop for there to be a dent. Take a physics class chief.

King fu? I'm lost. I was just replying to someone who assumed that this was a head-on type collision. I've been in/seen accidents with less damage at similar speeds. For example, clipping a concrete highway median at similar speeds could easily do this type of damage.

A car that hits a wall versus hitting another car traveling at a similar speed will always recieve less damage because the kinetic energy absorbed is half of what it would be, and 1/4 of the total kinetic energy if the car hit another car of equal mass.
