I've gotten through it with some happy times in there, but over all life is much happier with money than it was when I was broke.

I have been poor most of my life. I don't mind being poor, as long as I know that I am doing everything in my power to make decisions that will pay off later. I have been good decisions, and in a short while I will be making some serious cash. I am happy with that.

Being poor is fine. Now being a failure scares me more than anything. Death doesn't mean shit to me, but failure is my worst fucking fear. Give me death, just not failure. I think with my thinking, I will get rich or die trying.

without any money...I would be a bum and very unhappy.

I think money can buy happiness to a degree....but it can cause just as much unhappiness to.

Without any money would suck, without the concept of money I would do just fine.

My family never had any money. We were considered on the poorer side that's for sure. Now that I've established my career I do have to say that money alone doesn't make you happy but it sure makes you happier and easier to deal with the life's gotchas. So I'd have to say I'm happier with money......

Didn't realize you were all so damn poor.Thats sad,you all seem like good people and I can't imagine that you would all live on the other side of the tracks.

Well one thing you will notice about many of the IM board members is that most of us are all about changing for the better, That doesn't just include physical appearence. I want to grow smarter, richer, healthier, and better looking with hard work.

I grew up in a low income household and I was a very happy kid.

However, having no money now would pretty much suck ass.

Like I said in the other thread I am a minimalist so I could live in a studio, eat very basic food and all I would need is a library card, laptop, nice speakers for the laptop, paper/pen and a large coffee maker and I'd be set. Before I met my GF I had plenty of money in the bank yet I lived in a 1 bedroom shared with a friend he had the bedroom I slept on a futon in the living room. We ate very simple food and went to the same bars where we knew the bartenders and got a lot of free drinks. My friend Ted, that I shared the Apartment with was more frugal than I was and he was rich, he had inherited a very nice condo in LA, had several hundred thousand dollars from stocks, saved every other paycheck had like six sets of shirts and shorts and 3 pairs of shoes. We were happy all we needed was some alcohol, a night out with friends and to get laid a few times a week...and Ted was a legend amongst my friends for getting chicks on any given night he could be seen sneaking out of the club with a new tourist girl or anyone of his regular on the side booty calls. HE would get in with one chick and then end up hooking me and my other friends up with her friends and we'd end up all sleeping in these girls hotel rooms for the week they were on vacation, running up their room service bills and just having a great time hanging with them at the beach or the clubs....If that's not fun on the cheap then I don't know what is.....

That's me right now minus the library card.

Well hopefully things will start looking up now. I am losing this job I got now. Getting severance and my retirement back. Then I am getting a pt job. Hope it will be worth it, shall see....

You just don't know how happy you could really be on the other side.

Isn't it funny how ppl assume that and that that's all it takes. Try beeing there with much more to come and decide to get poor to rebuild from scratch to properly bee happy. ..long story but .. maybe the waay a person makes money has got a little something to do with happiness aswell. .. from industry to how much of setting up financially one actually does for themself. Really.. on mummy / daddies or partners teet.. I'd think I'd rather be poor than suck tittie for 'my ' position...but then.. I'm a buddhist and my last partner was a scientologist.. funny things in heads like ours;).

Hey D ... I wish ya luck on that one man. I haven't paid attention to everyone's "What I do for a living" posts ... what do you do for a living?

I aint never had money....except my Tax refunds.....lol
I lived in Tonga a few years and there aint nuthin to do down there but smoke weed and swim and play rugby and work in the farm......You dont need money to be happy,You just need good freinds....freinds as broke as you, lol.
As long as you got a roof over your head and food in your stomach, your good to go.
I live in Hawaii right now and the poor people practically live better than middle class.
