I was watching Good Will Hunting yesterday and today and my favorite parts are the dialogue (the whole movie is dialogue) between Matt and Robin. It made me wish I had someone giving me advice the way he did.

Instead my mom gives me advice the same way the Math Profressor gives Matt. Its not bad and its good advice, but for some reason it just doesnt register the way others have in the past..

Last time I was motivated or inspired was from a Speech teacher. She said I had a "gift" and such.. I didnt NEED to hear it, but it sure felt good. Not in an arrogant way either, but in a reassurance way.

Don't look for inspiration from others, look within yourself. Sometimes other people in my life inspire me, but that is just lucky situations, but often times I find it in my own mind. I sometimes lose inspiration, and depend on my rational mind to make the correct decisions to but me in a place where I can find new inspiration inside me.

Just my own 2 cents. I hope you find your inspiration.

I like that Kelju.

I was going to just close the door and creep away quietly but I didn't want to leave you Akira thinking i think that you are in some way defective. I dont believe that at all and ditto Kelju's last statement. I find it really sad that some ppl never do and suffer long and hard into the ends of their lives as the consequence.
I dont know if you're too cool to hear it, but i also hope for you that you find your reason.

Thats all Ive been doing nowadays. It works. I figure it will make me a stronger man...

But I like hearing stories of inspiration. I was curious if anyone on here remembered someone, like a parent, saying something to them that was never forgotten.

Its just nice to know someone believe in you, ya know?

Some people have said those kinds of things to me, but it's been so long since that I can honestly say I wish I had some more. Instead, I always tell people what a good job their doing and how much I appreciate it even if the company or others involved don't. I just think that makes people feel better (just two simple words make a huge difference sometimes, at least they do to me).

I try to inspire people just by being myself and letting people see what I've gone through, I think that has helped me a little too. Even though I have many psychological issues to overcome, I can tell that I am respected by those I work with and that makes me feel very good about myself.

I only say that I could use some inspiration or get some form of positive feedback because I can't seem to figure out how to stop putting myself down and how to avoid letting others put me down (especially when it is family, that's when it hurts the most and I begin to think I deserve some of the treatment I get :( ).

Try to inspire others and you will inspire yourself. It also doesn't hurt to give someone a compliment once in a while.

No, my parents never bestowed any worldly wisdom upon me. Most of my wisdom came from screwing up time and time again, but never giving up. If you try hard enough, eventually you will get it right. This applies to life and everything in your life. Learn from each mistake and try not to repeat them. Believe in yourself, and it won't even matter what anyone else thinks.

Negative rolemodels also provided me with inspiration ... as in "I do NOT wanna by like THAT MUTHERFUCKER!!!!!!!". Example I am the the opposite of what both my fathers were to me because my son deserves the best from me.

I guess what I'm saying is even when we lack motivation from within our selves or people that we can respect there's still a moron on every corner we DON'T wanna be like to help us get through the moment.

My short version: I make my own shit happen.

The day that I had an epiphany in regards to being proactive in my life, the quality of my life jumped by a factor. Not only that, but my stress level dropped like a rock.

I'm quick to do what I can, usually before I'm forced to, but when I can't do anything about a problem, due to time-lines or decisions that need to be made by others, I just let it go.

It's like I've said before: When your self-confidence is mistaken for indifference, then you're where you need to be.

:thumb: That's the only way to do it!

I do have great family inspiration though. They always believe in me and everything I do and achieve.

I remember my dad always saying,, as I was growing up - "you can do whatever you want to do in life"..

It always stuck with me..

About the best Ii've ever gotten is scientology and buddha nature telling me that it's all effort relative. It's there if we want it and if we take the gamble and just go for it - odds are that it could be worth while. Hell yes die trying
( shrug).

I think I had that same epiphany in the last 6 months. A positive proactive attitude with a "I can do it" attitude has caused me to really see things in a new light.

You can have all the inspiration in the world, but it means nothing until you have the perspiration to prove it inspired you.

Kind'a like 1% inspiration 99% perspiration

That my friend is just you taking responsibility for your own mind. Not everyone around here does that. You take steps to improve what's on the inside and that shows.

AKIRA,

It's all about surrounding yourself with people that are good for you. You know who they are and who they are not.

I agree with this, also. We are a product of our genetics and environment. We can't change our genetics, but we can change our environment, especially in this country. Surround yourself with happy, successful, positive people, and their traits will rub off on you if you are open minded and perceptive.

I dont know if I can say i believe that that's very realistic. Sometimes there isn't going to be that type of person around and then wee have to the positive one. If the idea is that it's meant to rub off, then if wee slip, maybe someone'll catch uus . That's why I like buddha nature. If at least one person can maintain the big picture and end goal .. and ppl surround themselves with that because it's positive and feels better than eternal sufferance prospect is looking to, and at least one of them is always remembering that and focussed on it their forefront awareness.. then based on the nature of what you both said, human nature should just take care of the rest. Just know when it's your turn and the opportunity to step up for it will probably come around .. . . and we do it, because we like that in the world and want some to exist for us or someone we care about right back. It's called love. Homework for those that haven't seen it - "the Simpsons Movie".

If the guys that log in here, who are his friends in the real world, show the quality of person he choses to surround himself with than he has that covered very well. He just needs to keep up with them ethically and he'll be a happy mofo.

you can call me. i will give you some inspiration.

Believe me, I learned that shit tonight.

Eh. Thats too easy to label though. That goes along with the expression "it could be worse."

Its not that I am down...or out. I really wanted to know what people have said to people ON HERE in their time of need. I like hearing those stories!

Shit, I saw Little Miss Sunshine today.

When the lil girl told Grandpa about not wanting to be a loser. The Grandpa said, "the real losers are so afraid of winning, they dont even try."

I love hearing that! Good stories!

No parents or teachers never said anythin unique to you guys?

That's a perspective issue AKIRA. For someone like me that never had a real dad or male role model it's not as simple as you make it out to be. I learned from the braille method.

No ... not me anyway. Like I alluded to earlier, my inspiration is from within based my experiences in life. There have been a few people that I respected and who's heads I kinda peaked into. The rest is from negative role models. Being happy, being content ... that comes from within a person. The inspiration and drive to be happy comes from that same place IMHO. For me it was seeing the unhappy people out there, and feeling my own inner unhappiness, that inspires me. As a kid not accepting being the victim motivated me into MA and lifting. Wanting to earn more money drove me into college. Awareness of my own abilities drove me to do other things ... things that I am hugely proud off.

Like the man said ... either get busy livin' or get busy diein'.

The most inspirational thing I heard was in a dream of mine when I was about 5 or 6 years old (it was burned into my memory). This is pretty religious in nature.

Way before I knew anything about Jesus, Mary, or Joseph, I had a dream where I walked up on 3 people sitting around a campfire in the woods. One motioned for me to sit with him, so I did. I saw a long beard and the robe he was wearing, he nodded and looked across the fire, I followed his eyes and saw a woman in robes, she nodded and looked to her left, so I followed her eyes and saw a man who looked different from the rest. I looked into his eyes (I saw them as a deep blue) and it felt as if I immediately knew who they all were and that the fire represented god (it was in the shape of a cylinder and the flame never violated the outer edge - very well controlled). I remember hearing in my head (nothing was spoken at all) that everything is ok (this was repeated over and over), followed by the feeling that this life was going to be very hard for me and that I should remember that everything is and will be ok, just don't give up.

I also felt this intense love coming from all of them, but it was magnified when I looked into the man's eyes (Jesus). The information felt like a flood because it was in a few seconds that all of that was delivered to me.

I'm not a very religious person, but I thank god for that dream 20 years ago. I think about it when I have a situation that I don't think I'll be able to make it past and realize that everything will be fine and to do what I feel is best, just don't give up on life (that is literally what I was told, this will be a tough life and you'll be fine just don't give up).

It's funny how all of that has basically come true for me, no one really knows how difficult it is to be a large (tall) gay man with a movement disorder in the world, it has certainly been a very difficult life to this point. My Mom is funny because she keeps saying that I don't know just how difficult life is being gay. Trust me, it can't be any tougher than it is right now. I've certainly felt at times that it wasn't worth going through and a while back was really thinking about suicide, but I remembered the dream and calmed down and promised myself that I would try to get through life.

I hope that helped someone.
