Whats a solid/effective ab routine?

Anything that progressively increases the strength of your abs?

its not all about quantity...its about quality...

you could do one MILLIOn crunches a day...but if your doing them wrong, its not gunna be worth shit. You need to make sure that your doing the movement correctly in order to hit all the major muscles in your abs. Granted, doing a lot is important, but if your not doing them right, your just cheating yourself and wasting your time.

Another key component to abs is making sure that you DO hit all the major muscles. Thats why you dont just do regular crunches every day all day. You mix it up. Do Leg Lifts...do cross legged crunchs...do scissor kicks. MiX it Up!...this way you know your hitting ur obliques and other muscles. but also, when your doing these, make sure your doing them right.

Doing a "lot" is not important. Quality of movement is. You need to avoid 0 and 90 degrees to keep tension on the working muscles. Doing a handful of exercises may be helpful, but doing an occasional situp with squats, deadlifts, and chin-ups is more than enough exercise to make abs "big" and "strong".

In contrast, I have several friends who do their abs like the average gym idiot, 4 or 5 exercises, lots of reps 2 or more times a week. I put 135 pounds on my chest and did 20 full range sit-ups avoiding 0 and 90 degrees while the rest of them could not move against the tension.

So, in that regard, big abs are built by the same techniques as other muscles. Same for strong abs. If you can't see them, diet.

Sit-ups. 1,000 per day. 2,500 on monday.

Since this guy does nothing but say check the stickies or provide stupid answers like this, I'll contribute and give you some good advice. Work your abs like any other muscle. Once per week or even two times is more than enough. Do weighted crunches and leg raises. Do 3 sets of each for 12-15 reps.

I've got the top abs where you can see them, the middle slightly showing but it's the bottom abs that are the hardest to build. I'm trying to bulk right now and trying to take in as many "clean" calories as possible. So is it even possible to get a 6-pack while bulking?

no.

to gain muscle and bulk up you need to take in more than your maintenance amount of calories.

to lose fat (ie to make your abs visible) you need to be in a caloric deficit (sp?).

Definatly.
Bulking is the best way to get 6 pack abs, although they will be coverd with a squishy layer of fat. Once u diet the fat will peel and the abs will reveil.
