I found this at the store today. It looks pretty good. It's kind of like a puffed cereal. The only thing listed on the ingredients is whole brown rice. Nutritionally speaking it looks a bit low compared to regular brown rice. Any thoughts? It can't be that bad.

Go for it. I've seen it in the stores as well :)

Thanks. I actually bought a bag of it (as you probably know it comes in a bag), and just ate a bowl, and I thought it tasted pretty good.

And I think the nutrition value may be less because it's puffed and the serving size is much smaller than the serving size on my regular brown rice. It's also pretty cheap. It was only 88 cents for the bag.

oh for sure! Does the bag have the macros?

Calories = 60
Potassium = 48 mg
Total Carbs = 48 mg
Dietary Fiber = 1 g
Protein = 1 g

Everything else is 0.

Serving size is 1 cup which is 16 g.

If I multipy everything by 4 I get the exact same thing as my brown rice including serving size, etc.

I eat that stuff all the time I love it. I just eat it plain with a bit of salt.

I guess the salt would be to add some flavor? I like it just fine plain actually.

I personally can't stand it without salt. It makes a huge difference. Plus I think it's easier to cook with salt as it seems less inclined to lump together when salt is added. Also you could throw some raisins in it. Good stuff.

Why would you cook brown rice cereal? This thread is about brown rice cereal, not brown rice.

Oh, okay then. The brown rice cereal I was refering to is actually a prepared cereal. It's puffed up brown rice, and you just pour milk on it. That is a different one. I have not seen that one.

Thats interesting cause I've never heard of the type you're talking about, I''m gonna have to see if Whole Foods has any when I go tommorrow. Mine is warm cereal which is great for breakfast. Got one more gram of fiber than yours too;)

I will have to see the the health food store has any. It actually sounds familiar now, but I've never tried it.
