I???m also not convinced it???s an American thing (this bit was intended ad American bashing no doubt) but a people thing. That is, I would like to see the same questions asked on the streets of other major cities of the world and see what answers they got.

I think everybody should have at least a basic level of general knowledge, i mean, theres little excuse now because with all different forms of media we're subjected to i think everyone is bound to pick something up without actually going out to learn it.

Id be able to answer a lot of those questions, not all of them though. If somebody asked me questions about America id do a lot worse though, i have no idea which cities are in which states, where the states are, etc etc.

Geography is by far my weakest subject.

Most Americans just don't need to know. Unlike most countries, probably 95% or more, America is self-sustaining. Both in terms of food and entertainment. A person can spend years traveling in the US and still not see even half of it.

However, there is some truth behind the video. Statistically, I believe Americans care a lot less (for whatever reason, patriotism included) about the world around them than Europeans and, also statistically, the average IQ is lower than in most European countries, especially in West America.
