I am aware of two sizes and at present I have the 25mm diameter grips. I am lifting 60 kg per dumbbell would it be to my advantage to go for the bigger diameter grip.

25mm or 50mm diameter. Weight to be lifted 75kg plus on each dumbbell

the smaller diameter will be easier to hold. the larger, harder. typically events like WSM (worlds strongest man) will use the larger diameter, because it improves grip strenght. so really use whatever you feel like

I like the standard Olympic bar size, but the bigger ones give a better grip workout.

I have had some tendonitis issue in the past 6 months and I was also thinking the larger to grip the harder you would work the forearm hence in the long run less chance of tendonitis returning.

Thanks buening, I just place an order for somebody to make me a set of stainless steel dumbbells with a 25mm grip x 620mm long with a total loading length of 474mm and an adapter to covert them to 50mm grip.

My standard dumbbells are 25mm with a total loading length of 237mm which is also restricting the weight I can lift, with my new set I will be able to load each dumbbell with 90kg and change to 50mm grip when required.

This should be ok for a while and well lets see what the wider grip does to my forearms.

Thanks again for the link

I split some PVC piping then wrapped it around my DB's and then chucked heaps of gaffa tape on them.. Put some cloth inside the pipe really tight, so that it wasnt rolling around ... Works for me, cheap as shit too
