So I bought a dip belt like a month ago because the one at my gym broke. I was working out tonight and I snapped the carbainer if half...

Anybody know where I can find a good carabiner that will hold alot of weight?

And also, it has to be thin enough to fit through the loops of the chain.

I dont know where specifically, but there must be a hiking supplies store around somewhere. Go get the heaviest one they got, haha.

Hmmm maybe I'll check out academy or sports authoirty.

I always knew the carabiner was low quality because it started bending after I first used it. Never expected it to snap completely in two though. Makes me wonder about the quality of the chain...

They have a whole bunch of them at home Depot, you can even make the chains longer.

yeah id agree
home depot or lowes

if theres not one locally for you try some other hardware store
they should have a variety

Go to a local Eastern Mountain Sports or Rock Climbing store. Buy a nice carabiner for like 5-10 bucks and it will never break, they can hold like 500lbs or something.

I appriciate all the info.

a carabiner for climbing is rated in the thousands i believe

and the tolerances are very strict

they have to be capable of withstanding the weight of a falling body from at least a few feet of drop

a 170lb climber who falls 5 feet must be something like 1000 lbs of stress on the carabiner

i mean... i would think

looks like most are rated for about 25 kn closed gate
and about 7-10 kn open gate

i would assume that open gate is more of a working load
and closed gate is more of the maximum shock load

kn x 225 = lbs equivalent

7x225=1575lbs

so lets just rest assured that even the most basic CLIMBING carabiner is capable of holding a working load of somewhere around 1000lbs closed gate

IronMag Labs Prohormones
one article even went so far as to say you could lift an intire truck by one carabiner, however the use of said carabiner after such event would be unsafe
