Hi everyone,
I'm into my second week of diet+exercise to lose body fat that has accumulated over the past two years..

I'm concerned with my hanging belly (who isn't), I have a lose belly that hangs a little over my pants waist line.. I know I can't "spot-reduce" and that overall fat loss is the key, but my question is:

- would abs exercises tighten my belly and make it look smaller? :nerd:

I know I'm not looking to get a six pack just yet, but I just need to tighten this stupid fatty sack a little bit.. :paddle:

well you can't "tighten" fat... it is what it is...

there's your answer right there

no, but training your abs/core will make them feel tighter and probably make you feel less fat...

just focus on getting your diet in check to ensure overall fat loss and in the mean time keep training your abs/core... if you're determined, work hard and are patient then you'll see results eventually...

Exercises that work the largest and most muscles are the best.
Remember to start slowly, once you can do body weight exercises easily add weight.
The basics are still the best,
squats, push-ups and pull-ups.
There are many variations to all of these, stay motivated and keep WORKING.

no push ups. dont waste your time.

Eat well, train hard, stay consistent and keep track of your progress.

I think by push-ups he meant all the push movement of the upper body (ex. bench press/military press etc.), not only push ups as we know them... but like everybody up here said, train hard, stay consistant keep your diet and your on the road to success, just remember that the best change don't come over night... but once you get them there here for longer than fast changes.

Why no push-ups?
In reading his first post sounds like he's just getting started.

I like push-ups.

They work every muscle from your toes to your fingers, they can be done anywhere and you don't need any equipment.

I understand you need to lift heavy weight to seriously increase muscle mass but for someone just starting isn't it a good rule to do body weight exercises before attempting weight training?

At least that's what I did 5 years before starting working out in a gym, i was doing intense push, ups, sit-ups etc. and biceps curls, tri etc. with 10lbs. When I hitted the gym it was really helping me.

What is wrong with Push-ups? especially the variations on it, can make it very difficult
