TapouT Owner Dies in Horrific Ferrari Crash
Mar 11th 2009 by TMZ Staff

TMZ has confirmed the owner of the TapouT MMA clothing line died this morning when his ultra-rare $300,000 Ferrari crashed into a light pole, ripping the car in half.

TMZ has learned Charles Lewis Jr. -- aka "Mask" -- was driving his Ferrari Modena in Orange County, Calif. around 1:00 AM this morning when cops say it "left the roadway, hit the curb, took out a light pole."

"Mask" was declared dead at the scene. A female passenger -- who was ejected from the crash -- was taken to a local hospital, but we're told she's in bad shape.

Cops believe "Mask" was racing a guy in a Porsche at the time of the crash, and authorities have since arrested the guy they believe was driving the other car. That man -- Jeffrey David Kirby -- is being held on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter.

Go with God.

I heard he was in critical condition last night, obviously, he took a turn for the worse.:(

I have sympathy for the loved ones he left behind but as for him, money doesn't equal intelligence. Street racing kills way to many people these days. Usually innocent ones. At least he only took himself out.

Explained it more gracefully then I would have.

I understand. After that night in Tampa, your soul has been crushed thus leaving you emotionally unavailable. At least you'll always have that night to look back on and think "what might have been".

Racing on public roads is fucking stupid and a hazard to everyone else on the road. Too bad he died, but fuck him at the same time.

so true. spirited driving is fun. but there is a time and a place for it. street racing is not that time or place.

Yup. SoCal.

Hot, expensive cars.

"Look at me."

Racing is dangerous and foolish. He could have killed more people, in addition to injuring his passenger critically.

Car musta been customized or went up in price, they used to be 200k. Anyone remember those "172 MPH" Ferrari crash pix from Brazil? I lost track of the pix, that was messy.

We had to modify the one we rented so it couldn't go so fast , our roads just aren't built for that kind of speed. We got plenty of winding roads with great views though which can be fun......I remember when some Japanese guys almost flipped the Vette or the SS can't recall, the cops showed us a tape they had from another tourist, these idiots tried to zoom around a bus and spun out on the sand that had blown across the road, almost a 270 then tires caught the curb on a bend and the other side of the car came up. The best part was one guy was sitting on the cargo area behind the seats and when it started to go sideways he leaned into the car and grabbed something because you see his legs come flying up in the air when the tires get airborne. Then when it lands his head is buried in the passenger foot area and his legs are dangling over the windshield.

That sucks, I just saw him about a month ago in Tampa. I think he was an idiot, but I loved his crazy face art - he really had lots of personality.

Thank god!

Can I please stop seeing those ghey three foot wide stickers on peoples rear car windows now!?

Ya know, from a distance, and if you glance at it fast, it looks like it says 'Terrell Owens Dies in Horrific Car Crash'

Then i opened the thread and was disappointed.

True story.

Now that he's dead can I market my TapdaT merchandise with the same look?
