i win i have a house full of flip ladies that is cooking me food.:coffee:

Margarito is dead meat. Pac-man is the best boxer in the world. Hope Mayweather stays out of jail long enough to get his ass kicked next.

Pac was amazing. he won all 12 rounds. was a great fight to watch. his hand speed is insane. seriously, i was astonished at his countering and footwork

Not with the heavyweights.

this wasn't a heavyweight fight. From UFC 109 through 121. I haven't added the 122 stats yet 66 of the 133 contested matches have gone to a decision. just something to note.

I like UFC too, but I'm a huge boxing fan. Never understood why it has to be either or for some people. Great fight, and Manny is one of the best athletes of his generation. To win titles in so many weight classes has never been done before. He is always entertaining. Boxing has it's share of problems, but Pac-man isn't one of them. Great fight.

agreed. I enjoy watching both. boxing has it's issues for sure, but a good fight to watch is a good fight to watch. pac just won a 154lb belt weighing in at 144. that shows his skill level. he can walk in and spank guys weighing nearly 20lbs more than him. freaking amazing.
He would beat the shit out of Floyd. Im convinced of that now. Floyd is scared. floyd is an ignorant ass pussy anyways so there you go.

Always hated Mayweather. Arrogant prick. Tons of talent, and a fantastic defensive tactician, but a horrible human being. Manny will eat his lunch if they ever do fight. Be fun to see, though.

I just hope that mayweather makes the fight before he goes to jail for 30 years. that way he is forced to retire with a record of 40-1. the skills pac demonstrated against a guy that much bigger than him seriously amaze me. that was a textbook fight. he took margarito to school last night.

I think he retired Margarito last night. He took an unbelievable beating. I think Manny actually held up towards the end. Gotta hand it to him for taking it for 12 rounds. Manny has tremendous power in both hands, especially considering his mind-numbing quickness.

Mayweather is in serious trouble. He is probably headed to prison, along with his father. Maybe he can get on the prison boxing team and they can do the first prison PPV. I just want to see the fight. I couldn't care less if Floyd rots in prison for life.

well said

the UFC goes to a decision 50% of the time :hmmm:

Boxing: 12 rounds x 3 min + 12 min of rest = 48 min of 'fighting'
MMA Championships: 5 rounds x 5 min + 5 min of rest = 30 min of 'fighting'
Dont forget, most of the fights are 3 rounds which makes them even shorter.

Your point has been torched.

I used to watch boxing but never the lighter weights. Not enough power in those little bodies to KO with those large gloves. So what you got is dancing, jabbing with an occasional flurry, and hugging.

I know, you can have two guys lying on top of each other in MMA and with that, I agree its boring. But a submission can come out of left field and if there were any boos for the time spent laying around, theyd be hushed.

It draws one to wonder as to why people boo during a UFC fight than a boxing fight. They boo cuz its boring, yeah, but its because the excitement level can be so high. When you see lightweights KOing people (see Aldo for a FEATHERWEIGHT with KO power), I think the crowds become spoiled and expect more explosive finishes. Myself 90% included.

Now you take a guy like Machida who fights cautiously. Its like a point fight with this guy, but ya know what? It reminds me of boxing. Only with boxing there are MORE strikes with less KOs. And thats just using your hands.

Parting shot, I used to watch boxing. Now that Ive been spoiled by the excitement of MMA, boxing is a little pedestrian to me now.

Ill also ask something, to which I wonder if I will get an honest response, but as long as I make a point, all is well.

Who else fought on that fight card? No, how many fights were on it? Gotta be at least 4-5. Anyone watch them or even worse, anyone order the event to see those fights more so than Pac's?

MMA is very entertaining, no doubt. I can understand being a bit bored by many boxing matches in comparison.

Too much politics in Boxing. Too many bad decisions, and a lot of fights don't get made that should, because of the promoters.

Most of the best boxers these days are in the lighter weight classes. When I was a kid there were some great heavyweights with Ali, Foreman, Frazier, et cetera. Seemed like there was a great fight every few months. Liked Tyson when he was young and hungry. These days there aren't too many big guys worth watching.

Still love boxing, though. I grew up around boxing, fighting Golden Gloves and all that. Mostly just gave me an appreciation for the sport and how difficult and challenging it is. Usually a handful of guys out there I'll go out of my way to see, and Manny just happens to be number 1 out there right now.

I watched the fight for free online, so you make a point. I'm not willing to spend the money for PPV's too often these days. The other fights on the card were not even close to the main event.

how did you torch my point? I posted a factual statistic. do you even train?
your math is off by the way.

yeah, i watched them. we ordered it for the main event, but we watched the others as well. the Jones-Soto Karass fight was a good one to watch. those guys came to bang.

Saturday's boxing main event was more compelling all by itself than the entire 122 fight card IMO.

I fight in muay thai, have started to train JJ and like that the UFC can put together a great card every month usually. I just find it stupid to do the whole MMA>boxing argument.

Agreed 100% and whats even more disturbing is that they dont promote the other fights. Ill address that when I get back to bio-chem.

I understand the bliss of the lighter fighters just cuz they have the cardio-capacity to be so lively. With boxing comes your one dimensional fighting and the larger gloves. So now you get a bunch of, what I said, dancing.

There is something special about the heavyweights that always draws attention. I loved boxing cuz I grew up watching Tyson. I was heartbroken when he lost to Buster Douglas and even defended his fight with Holyfield (I thought he started giving Holyfield a fight before the bites). I actually strayed then came back to watch Roy Jones Jr. However, these guys arent light weights.

It is? How?

No I dont train. Hows that for you. I dont have to train to know about this. Dont try to putt a cop out on me. I deliberately baited you cuz I know you argue. :teeth:

rest times. in a 12 round fight there are 11 rests. 1 each between rounds. you don't count the rest after fights are over.

you didn't bait anyone. usually I enjoy your thoughts on combat sports. you are obviously a fan and I like fellow fans of combat sports. I just think you are way off base with the whole MMA>boxing thing.

122's card was weak but, this is just me, I wouldve been more bored watching boxing than the UFC. Why? Ill come back to that.

I ask about the card cuz they dont promote the fights. They just list them and thats shitty marketing. Its been like that for a long time now and I cant understand why. Is it cuz the fights are boring? Are the fighters not skilled? They have to be if they are on the event, right?

In the UFC, 122's for example, Seth Petruzelli (sp?) was on the undercard and he was marketed by being the guy who beat Kimbo and indirectly killed Elite XC. Matushenko (sp?) also known as The Janitor fought on this same card and hes known cuz he JUST fought Bones Jones. Sure I know this cuz I am a hardcore fan, but I saw a trailer listing these chaps and thats something boxing doesnt do.

I tire of boxing now just for the simple concept of more shit happening. Boxing is just two hands. In MMA, boxing is there too but so is an array of arsenal to win a fight. We recently saw how to beat a pro boxer using real life rules. Well, the closest to real life it can get without being called pitfighting again. That interests me. No longer am I impressed by a guy who can jab and hook for 12 rounds just to earn a decision when I can see Shogun KO Machida via GnP fashion winning the belt or a German kickboxer in Denis Siver winning his fight via submission!

I dont just isolate boxing mind you. I would do this with wrestling, kickboxing, Jiu-Jitsu, because its just ONE field.

Oh my god, really? Ok I wont address it. Just read my next post.

Maybe they don't promote the under card because they don't have to. how many PPV's did pac vs margarito get? how many fans did cowboys stadium hold last night? doesn't seem like they are hurting by not promoting the other fights that much. UFC could never sell out cowboys stadium the same way, and PPV's are heatlhy but not yet in the realm of boxing.

I really enjoy MMA. hell, I train in it. I agree with you that its fun to see these guys use such a large skill set, but it does turn them into a jack of all trades and a master of none really. MMA has it's issues. if I go to an MMA fight and a BJJ match shows up I get bored really quick, and I understand the nuances of that sport. on the other hand when i go to a grappling tournament thats what i came to see and I enjoy it.

the hand speed, and footwork of manny last night was a work of art. completely insane. just a freaking clinic. even the best MMA fights don't match up to what we saw manny do last night. One of the best MMA fights to watch and one that helped really blow up MMA to fans was Griffen vs. Bonner but that was two guys going out and beating the shit out of each other without any defense at all. Even the most infantile of fans can recognize that was some sloppy fighting. entertaining, but sloppy.

why try and take away from the skill of what these guys are doing? no matter the sport? boxing, muay thai, JJ, wrestling, or MMA? personally I find Muay thai events the most interesting, but I'm sure as shit not going to rag on any of the sports.
