Arnold Schwarzenegger Wants In Comics; Talks New Movies

By Kevin L. Clark, March 7, 2011

The former California governor-turned-actor is getting the comeback campaign some fuel after speaking at this year's "Arnold Classic". Fan-site The Arnold Fans was privy to his elaborating on the projects he's considering... and there's no mention of the hokey With Wings As Eagles.

"Well, first of all, it's more [like] 15 films, obvious ones from 'The Terminator' to remakes of 'Predator' and 'The Running Man' and all of those things," he said.

But first on Arnie's agenda is an as-yet-to-be named comic book character. While he's currently trying to "go green" you can expect that the fans will be keeping their eyes on who Ahnuld chooses as his re-introduction to the movie world. Look for an announcement from him by the end of March or beginning of April.

What do you guys think? Can the older action star with the word "former" attached to him for years still be a box office beast?

It depends on how well he has cultivated himself over the years...if he wants a deeper role. Or perhaps Terminator: the later years.

But seriously, if he works out hard, and finds the right role, he could be very good.

Arnold better ease his way back in, if he flops in his first film, it won't bode well for future projects. The idea of him coming back in the Expendables 2 would be sweet but more in a support role. Anything he does he should start out in support of a lead, then once he has his mojo, capitalize on it. Really, if it takes a few years to get back what does it matter, not like he is broke or anything like that. And he is far from in shape like Sly was in the first Expendables and he isn't going to transform overnight to do some Terminator sequel... right, a wrinkly ass Terminator, that would be the day.

Well, "wrinkly ass" Clint Eastwood has done pretty well in the movies, so I wouldn't count Arnold out.

Agreed on another cameo in Expendables 2. :thumb:

This will be key.

I checked IMDb to see what movies Eastwood starred in after he hit age 60. It's an impressive list.* Though Schwarzenegger certainly does not have Clint's acting chops, he should be able to get some appropriate roles directed by some top talent.
