So I've been training for around 10 yrs but have been at it hard for 2+ yrs now, meaning at least 3-4 days/week training. BUT, because of the way I work I often will have stretches of up to 6 days when I do not train or train very little. I feel this may be giving me the effect of deloading as I go despite never having had a complete week with 0 training. I'm making excellent gains as of late. Put on ~7lb of lean mass in the last 2 months and strength is still going up.... Here's my dilemma, I'm like most and weights/cardio are basically therapy for me but I'm leaving tom for a week at the beach.... Should I try and find a gym there? run a little? do some basic movements without weights (i.e push ups, chins, hand stand push ups, etc.)? or just take the week completely off?

Whens the last time you took a week off?

Like I said I haven't really taken a full week off for over 2 yrs, but with my work schedule I'll have anywhere from 3-6 day stretches that I don't train. Last stretch was i think 5 or 6 days about 2 weeks ago. I don't use a typical split kinda routine, I hit the gym on my days off or squeeze in time when i can.

If you put on 7 lbs of lean muscle in the last 2 months, then I dont think you need much advice! lol 7lbs every 2 months is a lot if its truly lbm. What more could you ask for?

Ya I would try to find a gym if you just got a 6 day break only 2 weeks ago. 6 days is just as good as a week off IMO.

8lbs

I don't think you need to deload if your getting 6 day breaks every so often. i personally don't like deloads, but i am the odd one

Exactly what I was thinking. I hate the idea of time off.... I just needed to justify my obsession with the irons haha. Thanks guys!:winkfinger:

157lb to 164lb, barely a measurable movement in BF%... course the first 3lbs were with some 1-andro the rest is just heavy weights and truck loads of food. Still a lil dude but I'm workin my way up.

I Broke a rib when I slipped in the winter time this year. I had to take 30 days off from lifting. Was one of the best things that happened to me in years. Nobody likes to take breaks but the body loves it. Im obviously not saying to take a month off but your 6 days here and there are a good thing.

It seems to work very well for me... lol I've considered finding some evidence to support a routine like this. Something a little less conventional than day-specific type routines. I almost always seem to return with some lil bonus after a stretch of shifts, strength is up or just generally feel better.

Forget about finding a gym on your holiday. Enjoy your trip and take a break from the lifting. You will certainly not lose muscle in a weeks time and if anything the rest you get will probably trigger more growth.
