Go in and see which has the most squat racks. The more pussified a gym, the less of these they'll have.
Bally's is a mile away, XSport is .7 miles away. Both are 24 hours.
I can't think of a better way to see who gets my money. I wish I had thought of it.

If I think someone at the gym is a raging faggot and he's pissing me off by being a douche, the image of his face comes into my brain when I'm at the bottom of a squat and fighting for that extra rep.

I hadn't considered that. At Planet Gheyness, you're not allowed to do deads. You can squat, but they've cut off the ends of the oly bars so you can only fit two plates (225 max.) at a time.
Which one is taking your money now?
Any gym that has what you need. Block out the douchebags with an ipod.

If you can, I'd get a free week at each and give both a try. Most gyms will cough up a free trial if you tell them you won't join without trying the place first. Sometimes you can tell after only a day or two if it's the right place for you. I like the squat rack idea,too.

pretty sure bally's doesn't do the contract thing anymore...
Don't know anything about Xsport. Bally's screwed me out of money. So I hate them.
