This is a rant.

On the beginning of my beloved cardio, I saw these 2 kids setup some bench workouts. Only, I saw one kid setup for doing 225. Now, this kid didnt look like he could do it, but who am I to judge, I was that small too once. However, he takes the bar off with his friend constantly touching the bar (who knows how much he helped) and the kid pushing didnt go down all the way. Ok, again, I thought maybe hes doing half reps or isometrics. But then the kid slaps on 275! Same routine. Not going down all the way, constantly spotted. Finally, he slaps on 315. :suicide: The kid did maybe 3 reps...well 3 half half reps with the spotter obviously helping this time(although he was looking around aimlessly instead of watching his partner).

The spotter was even smaller and he did the same exact workout procedure as the other. Only 205 was his best half reps.

Now I am reading up on being a certified PT and I have come across some workouts that I thought were incorrect before, but this had to be useless. I giggled to myself and more or less waited for an injury.

Again, this is kind of a rant, but I gotta ask. You guys see this happening? And when you do, do you try to help them out? These kids seemed more interested in big lifts, rather than big chests.

HAHA yah the hockey players at my gym. what they do is they go around the gym in their big group and watch eachother do a few reps of a heavey weight. big waste of time and not even effective, theyre all skrawny fuckers

When I see that, I usually just shake my head and chuckle

(Unless it looks dangerous or something)

There were three young guys, sophomores in high school, bashing some of their teachers, talking about how much of a loser you have to be to be a teacher... making fun of special needs kids, whom i teach. I finally spoke up, from under a 400 lb squat, asking them where they went to school. They continued badmouthing, hooting at some of the ladies in the gym, and were asked to leave by the gym attendant on duty. Now i dont work out at a large gym or anything, its partially for rehabilitation and geriatrics, but has a full weight room and is usually empty enough for me to toss some big lifts. One of them knocked into me during a squat, and i racked the bar, tossed off my CD player, and explained, in a calm, sweaty manner, that i KNOW their teachers, being one myself, and coerced them to vacate the equipment that they, moments before, refused to vacate after being asked by a 60 year old gym attendant. I love teaching high school, and working out in the neighborhood gym.

Great job......thats a great story :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
I have a friend from way back in high school who is now a high school teacher and has been for 15 years.......In hear some great stories from him also.

I saw this guy at my gym who loads that easy grip bar up with weights and gets on the preacher bench. Guy goes from starting position with his arms vertical with elbows resting on the preacher pad thingy, to only about 90 degrees with his bicep. It doesn't even really look like hes using his arms for this anyway as hes just using body weight to heave it back into starting position. Call me crazy but i always thought you had to go all the way down to about 180 degrees and use your brachialis muscles. :hmmm:

I love the guys who pick up 70lb dumbells and start doing alternate curls, swinging like nothing you'd believe and using all shoulder to get the weight up. Then, after their 4 reps, they'd rerack the weight with enormous difficulty and then brag to their mates about how pumped their biceps were.

Or the competitive guys in the gym. You know the ones I mean, the teenager who fancies his muscles and always tries to outlift everyone. This one time I was doing 500lb deads, this guy, probably no older than 16, fairly solid kid but still had no chance of deadlifting the 350lb or so that he had put on the bar. I start my deads, and so does this kid. He gets the weight about 3 inches off the ground, his left hand gave out and the bar went crashing to the floor.

The gym I go to is in a rough part of town and there are some weirdos
that come in and do some unexplainable shit. One guy will grab the lower
cable on a crossover station and sort of act like he's trying to start a lawnmower. I've seen this done for lats but he will spastically jerk around like Dieter from Sprokets.

Oh, I know these assholes. They are all over the place. Like this guy doing 135lbs while doing a barbell curls. I want to ask this guy how his back workout is going.

Funny how I can point out these guys easier than I could before...maybe cuz I used to do these workouts these ways. :spaz:

I see this nonsense all the time. They do 3 sets consisting entirely of forced reps. How about you just use less resistance so your spotter doesn't get a workout too...

Don't bash everyone who does 135 lbs on a barbell curl. I do it, but i do it strict and with little swing. However, i understand the criticism if you are describing someone who jerks and swings his whole body. I will do them for negatives, every other time i work biceps.

hell yea it does.

legion, does doing negatives every other time you work biceps help you a lot? i've heard its bad to frequently do negatives, but they seem to really help my growth on biceps.

my story,
this dude at my gym will load up weight for leg press, do a rep or two, then immediatly put his hands on his knees, and push like hell with his arms for about 8 more reps.

CD player? what is that?

I dont help them out, they need to figure it out on their own

Figure this out on your own: bumping a six-year-old thread? What? Is this a creative way to reach your necessary numbers to pm? If so, then play on playa!

lol It's something they had back in 2005.

My bad. I just noticed you're on AKIRA's friends list. It would be normal to seek out the posts by people you know or who are on your list.
