Campaigning in Austin, Texas, President Barack Obama said GOP challenger Mitt Romney wanted to let the auto industry go bankrupt, rather than provide a bailout. The president said he disagreed with that thinking. (July 17)

Still would have had a job if they went into bankruptcy protection. The risk was not just to you as an employee, it was to the massive supply chain that has as many or more jobs than the auto companies themselves. Its done, whether I agree with giving GM another pass or Chrysler for that matter is irrelevant, they got it. Poor management and bad union contracts made a shit storm for all the workers so a few people could make it big, its deplorable.

And lets not forget many of those supply chain jobs aren't anything that pay close to what the UAW is paid so it wouldn't exactly have been a huge loss if they disappeared (and they wouldn't have disappeared in a GM bankruptcy). The days of the average stiff making good money at Delphi were long gone before the collapse of 08 and 09.

Obama said fuck the shareholders, fuck the stock holding retirees, fuck the salaried folks and fuck the vendors all while the UAW didn't give up shit. Well I guess they did give up some of those dumbasses who were sitting in the job bank for years collecting a full income, which was stupid as fuck in the first place.

Not all of us will vote for him. I'm not. Fortunately there are other candidates beyond the big two.
