I have my own "start up story."

When I was a teen in High school, I tried Marijuana and it wasn't for me. In the Pacific Northwest it was (is still?) hydrponic strong stuff that was too strong for me. I didn't like pot. I preferred beer.

I had not smoked MJ for 20 years or more until last year.

A lot of people in Vietnam smoke weed. People pass joints around in some bars and cafes freely. I decided to take a puff or two. People also gave me pieces of MJ and I would put it in an old vitamin bottle in my fridge. I let the pot keep piling up, but for months I never smoked it (because weed was not my drug of choice).

After a few months I decided to smoke it after 20 years or more.

First.....I had to (duh) buy a lighter. Then, papers, and I tried to roll joints (which I suck out). Then I went to the smoke through a can route (don't know where to get a pipe here). People use doobies.

The weed here in VN is mostly natural stuff. Meaning, it's not hydroponic, and "weak." It gives me energy and I can now read lengthy article on the computer and keep my concentration, whereas I cannot when I am not smoking. The weed in VN gives a light buzz and it does not last very long.

So far, it's been great.

Sounds like a sativa.

What is a "sativa?"

Serious question. I went to dictionary . com and there are no results.

Also, I do not smoke that often. I'd say 4-7 times per month at night.

The two types of strains can contain either or both sativa and indica. Sativa is more of a head high and makes u goofy, lol. Indica is more of a body high, good for pain and sleep. There are also many hybrid strains that have both types at different ratios and percents.

man has been "getting high" on something since time immemorial. the wealthy country's in the OECD consume the most alcohol and drugs in the world. so anybody that thinks you can stop people from getting high doesn't know jack squat about the human race. to date MJ is the far lesser of all the evils and it definitely does the job if not being sober is the objective.

personally I couldn't think if anything worst than being sober every day for the rest of my life. why in the fuck would I want to do that? I can't even watch "regular" tv programming butt sober, the shit on the idiot box just isn't that interesting to me...but that's JMHO

Prince, thank you.

The VNese weed is weak. Not goofy at all. Some people call it "day smoke" because you can smoke and function within a short time. It's very light. Certain types/strains make me feel too mellow however.

Thanx for the info, I'll do some homework and read up on this.

Prince has it covered.

That describes a sativa to a T. Sativas are relatively lower in THC so you remain clear headed during the day.

A very good read and full of info. your not told.

In this important and timely book, two eminent researchers describe the medical benefits of marihuana, explain why its use has been forbidden, and argue for its full legalization to make it available to all patients who need it. Highly praised when it was first published in 1993, the book has been expanded to include new examples of the ways that marihuana alleviates symptoms of cancer chemotherapy, multiple sclerosis, osteoarthritis, glaucoma, AIDS, and depression, as well as symptoms of such less common disorders as Crohn's disease, diabetic gastroparesis, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Praise for the first edition:

"Grinspoon and Bakalar have provided a valuable compendium of marihuana's beneficial properties .... This book is valuable for its breadth of first-person accounts of beneficial effects of marihuana smoking in physically and emotionally distressed individuals." -- Rick J. Strassman, M.D., Journal of the American Medical Association

"Cogent and convincing arguments for the legalization of marihuana and its pharmacologically active components. ... This book provides an excellent overview of the subject from a medical perspective." -- Robert M. Swift, M.D., Ph.D., New England Journal of Medicine

"A very important book .... It is highly recommended reading for anyone interested in the history,, biomedical science, and public policy surrounding these most amazing plants." -- David E. Presti and Richard Evans Schultes, Journal of Psychoactive Drugs.

OK, thanks for the confirmation, Iron Addict.

I'll browse that book also.

yep, and most of what you will find will be a hybrid, sativas take aLOT longer to grow and flower, grow taller and cost more $$$ to produce due to that. so pure sativas are almost unheard of now. you will find sativa dominant strains for sure, the indica strains alter the flowering time and still have some sativa qualities.

I go to a clinic/dispensery here in Canada, and love that I have the option of strains AND the ratio of the hybrid sative vs indica. I have ALOT of spinal/nerve/back, neck pain and migrans on top of some mild anxiety issues so i use mostly indica. sucks it makes your more sleepy but it helps with pain and normaly dosent cause as much anxiety as sativa might. mind you i got a bit of "wildberry" a mostly sative strain last i was there to get my meds, figure i may try it and see if my anxiety is less then in the old days of juts getting it from a guy and hoping to even get a name and then hope that it was not just made up name for a selling point...
maybe i will be able to use a hybrid more 50/50 then the 5-10/90 <indica make up im using now, something i can use more of during day. i rarely use much during day, just a small puff or two to try and deal with the extreme pain, or else i get too relaxed and i still need to hit my workouts hard! :-)

Im in Canada though, I feel for you guys, we are still having wars here on it too, its not as simple as some Americans seem to think, the gov is fuckign with us in alot of aras right now. harper has to go ...
sur efo me its legal but they are talking about not allowing growing and other changes what would make it possibly more costly to those in need which is just wrong.

cheers

ps sry LONG post haha

Call it "cannabiz"

lol Beautiful.

I don't smoke but definitely support any form of legalization/decriminalization. So many parents and family members of students have been incarcerated over the years it's terrible. The so-called war is simply a war on minorities and families, imo.
