Theres a small town of 400 people about 15 miles from my land and its filled with horny chicks who walk around drunk and naked on the lake...lol...Im married though....I have a house in a major city 60 miles away and my wife and daughter are there most of the time...I travel back and forth.

Ive never been stuck from storms
two yrs ago we had that freak october storm...my neck of the woods had no power for two weeks
I looked at the tuck, the audi quattro and all the downed trees...decided the audi would fit in places the truck wouldnt and use less gas, grabbed the chainsaw...and away I went!
what sucked is we had NO food because we were supposed to move back into our house the following day
hell we had no furniture
we survived fine for two weeks
real shit hit the fan well..then Id have to look at it all a little closer
hunting, fishing, farming and guns arent a problem here but I don't know that I'd want my little ones growing up in fear

If we ever had a real economic collapse or a really bad catastrophy everyone would head to the woods for food, and wild game would eventually become scarce...Thats why i prep and try to be self sufficient as much as possible because you cant rely on all the natural resources...Personally i think water storage and water purification methods are the most important preps to have.

I have a well...the pump will run on solar....and even if it didn't, without the pump it will gravity feed at 4 gpm

Thats awesome!...I have a well on my property to, but one of the reasons i chose my land as a BOL is because its on a 36,000 acre lake with 330 miles of shoreline...I was lucky to find 20 acres on craigslist dirt cheap out here...So i have prepped alot of Katydyn water filters, purification tabs, and boxes of calciumhypochlorite powder...I love prepping almost as much as i love lifting weights.

My cabin is only 14 x 36 it has 2 bedroom lofts up stairs 1 on each end, and downstairs is just living room, kitchen and bathroom...Its a man cave!...lol...We have a house in a suburb of a major city in my state but our front and back yard is small...I like it out here in the woods much better, except for the fact that i have to drive 60 miles to get to the gyms.
dig a shallow well about 20 feet from the waters edge and cap it, the water that will seep into it will be clean and drinkable as it filters itself through the soil
Ya, kind a like a natural bio sand filter.
look up the precise distances based on soil types,
perhaps make several along the shoreline if u have alot of lake frontage, hide some from prying eyes if the time comes

I have off grid gear for power to fulfill all my cold beer, entertainment and hot shower needs in case of a utility outage.
16 Kyocera Solar modules, Outback inverter and Charge Control, 8 100amphour batteries, 2 solar hotwater panels, 120gal tank, pump and controller to run hot water circulation. 4 critical loads circuits, fridge, lights, tv with DVD player and 2TB harddrive and laptop. Also 2 outlets to plug things into like my phone, ipad, guitar amp, blender etc....
Would this work if there was a chemical attack on the water systems? Or if a power plant melted?
Id would go south of the border, you think things are bad down there, it will be paradise compared to US, since people down south already live like theres beens a natural or bio disaster, so everyone just keeps to themselves and survives off the land. Here in the US everyone is used to luxuries and comforts so people will turn to rioting and thieving and killing just to have crap they domt need anyways.
If anyone wants to know how to "dig" a well on a body of water without using a shovel EVER let me know. My family business is well drilling. Its what i grew up doing. and I was third generation so I know the forgotten tricks of the old masters...lol

Hell yeah bro! Most people down there live a better stress free life then we do in America, people consider them poor cuz they dont have all the needless junk we buy here, they buy what they need and afford and enjoy it. Buy some land, build a house, grow your own food, and be polite with the natives and you will be treated with respect and left alone! Ill be swinging in my hammock eating and drinking coconuts and seasonal fruits, and have my own chickens and im set!
