Wednesday I went to the gym for legs, nothing rushed and I didn't have any pain immediately pain.

I wakeup Thursday morning with severe lower back pain. Not only that but my left arm below the elbow is numb. Same feeling you have when you sleep in am award position.

The pain was so intense yesterday that I was nauseous. I couldn't keep down anything, not even water. Today my stomach has settled somewhat so I can hydrate.

I assume the two are related, left arm and back.Should I just stop being such a manly manand go to the doctor or give it a few more days ?

In one way this doesn't make sense. I have 2 herniated discs and possibly an impingement at L5, S1 which gave me bad Sciatica and nerve damage. This is the lower back and Lumbar region of the spine.

I sometimes have my arm go to sleep. When I asked the doctor about this, he said that it could be a pinched nerve in the neck area. This is the upper back and Cervical region of the spine.

In other words, you have both lower back pain and something going on with your arm, which indicates an upper back issue.

The doctor went on to tell me that there could be many things causing my arm to go to sleep other than a problem with my spine. He said if it continues or gets bad he would X-ray my Cervical region. It wasn't bad and basically went away for the most part on its own, so I never needed the X-ray.

do another leg day..hope this helps

If something keeps me up at night I go to the doc. If its not keeping you up I would give it a day, but I wouldn't mess with my back. Don't want to be fifty and limping around cause you didnt address something

Two years ago I had a car accident and had a small chip fracture on one of the vertebrae in my neck. I would like to say it was s1 but then again I may be saying that because I read it in you're post. It was located in the vertebrae closest to the skull. This would be the first time I have had any type of numbness in my extremities.

My back pain has started to increase again. It radiates outward and down, close to my hips on both sides. It has started to make me nauseous again. I'm getting really bad dehydrated.

I've never had back problems other then a small stain. This is to the point I can't take deep breaths without pain.loo

L stands for Lumbar. S stands for Sacral. Both of these regions of your spine correspond to lower.

When your neck is involved, as you described, that is upper back related. The Cervical vertebra is upper. Look at a chart of your spine with those vertebra labeled.

Pain radiating down from your hips sound like Sciatica. That can go down both legs into your toes and the pain can be so bad you can pass out. I nearly did.

This sounds bad enough to consider seeing a doctor. All mine did was give me muscle relaxants and anti-inflamitories like Celebrex. I don't understand why you are nauseated though.

If the radiating pain coming from your hips is really the main issue, then I think it's Sciatica and I recommend that you look up the Mackenzie Method and see if you can try practicing it a little if you are not too bad.

Is your arm still numb, or is that feeling better?

Can you keep water down? I would drink both water and Gatoraide if you are dehydrated.

The pain is causing the nausea. It is that bad. It radiates downward toward my hips. The epicenter is just below the midsection of my back.

I'm going to try and ride it out a little longer. Holiday weekend, the WE will be a circus.

Yes! The pain can be that bad.

If the pain is not down your leg yet, the Mackenzie Method is not going to help.

Sounds like you may have herniated a disc. Can you take Ibuprofen or Naproxen Sodium for the pain/inflammation?

and some GMP certified pain killers?

i feel bad for you. I wish I could drive you to the doctor or give you a topless massage or something to ease your pain.

I think if it were a disc I would have felt something at the gym the same day.

Thus is what happens when you work out without using any gears.lesson learned, I will never workout without gears and be like all those other smucks who are weak and frail and not terked, jerked and tan.

Never again , by the gods of my four fathers, so be it.

I'm on a lot of gear. I benched heavy as normal. Didn't feel a thing. A few days later my shoulder starts killing me. It's now a month and a half later. I blew my shoulder out and my rehab is coming along slowly.

More gears is always the answer.

Well the feeling has returned to my left hand except for my little finger. My back is still in a little pain. I'm so dehydrated my lips are chapped and I still don't have an appetite.

All in all I say good progress.

God bless you all, each and every one.

Yeah man, I'm almost 100% brah. :)

I will go in the morning if I'm still having a problem. I must have had a bad dream or something. There is a knot on the back of my head. I guess I jerked and hit the head board.

Hell, maybe aliens. Its been a strange couple of days.

Illegal aliens harvested your kidneys after you passed out from a hard leg day? They must have saw you walking funny and thought you were drunk.

I've been sober for months.

Jokes on you aliens.

Don't lift your hips and butt off the pad when you leg press...that is the issue...

I rarely do leg press. When I do it is high reps and very low weight. It is very uncomfortable on my back at high weight.

Thank you for all the kind thoughts and prayers. Never have I felt more love than at IM.
