    I'd take it post workout. If I were you, I'd go buy a big bag of boneless, skinless chicken breast. They're a lot more fun eating than drinking a protein shake and they don't give you bad gas.

    Protein Powders

    I actually liked the two MuscleTech products I tried (Nitro & CellTech). If they weren't so overpriced, I'd still be on them. It's just when you add things up and realize you're spending nearly 100 bucks a month a Creatine, it's time to try something else.

    My back sometimes hurts while doing leg presses. Usually the lower right part. I go as deep as possible when I do them (knees almost to chest). Maybe that has something to do with it.

    Protein Powders

    I just started using ON Whey a few weeks ago. So far I really like it. I was using Nitro-Tech, but that crap got expensive quick. My only complaint with ON is that they didn't have chocolate in anything but the big 50 dollar tubs. Vanilla taste like crap in water, so I use milk now.

    I wouldn't worry too much about the 12 rep thing. You shouldn't be able to keep doing 12 reps if you increase the weight on each set. I do two sets of 10 on my first two sets, 8 reps on my third set, then finally 6 reps on my last set. I'd at least stick to something for about a month before...

    To be in better shape when I turn 30 (I'm 29 now) than most 20-year-olds. Short term goals: Bench 250 10 times. (doing it 7 times right now) Squat 400 10 times. Dumbell (EDIT) bench 210 (105 on each side) I guess that's it...for now.

    I train at the local gym closest to me. It's pretty nice being in a smaller town in a gym that's not all that crowded usually. You don't have to worry about someone else being on a machine you need to use next.

    I combine chest and tris on the same day. Maybe you should try that.
