I've made great gains hitting hard 2x a week. I'm also very carful on how I plan what I will do. I will do 3 week cycles:
Week 1, 6 sets, 8-10 reps, 311 tempo.
Week 2, 8 sets, 4-6 reps, 301 tempo.
Week 3, 4 sets, 2-4 reps, xpl tempo.
