trains for size for one muscle group (upper body) and for power lifting other muscle group (lower body)

lets say im trying to lose fat on a ~1800 cal diet. if 50 cals of a 300cal meal is sugar how does that effect the nutrition the body is getting ?
what about tea with sugar at night(approx 25 -50 cal per glass) , will it turn to fat ?
