I'm trying to help a friend diet, but she doens't listen to me and keeps just eating once a day
Can anyone fuel me with some new reasons why this is the worst thing she could do?
 
Her metabo will shut down. Her body will think it is in starvation mode.

When you dont give the body food but once in awhile, it knows its in for the long haul because it wont get food any time soon. So the metabolism will slow down and it will dump lean body mass before fat, fat stores are not something the body wants to break into by choice especially under these circumstances.

She can surely lose weight but it wont be a healthy manner of losing weight, and all the good stuff will go first.
 
Another thing to is that her immune system will be less responding to fighting off colds and illness due to lack of nutrition. Lethargy, headaches, chills are also a few things from improper nutrition.
 
She'll live for a long time with that uber slow metabolism, though. :D
 
You know I actually read a very, very interesting diet called the Sumo Diet or something the other day....it worked on the premise that you eat one HUGE meal that lasts about an hour each day. The guy who devised this diet simultaneously lost fat and gained muscle at the same time, I can't remember the basis behind it, I read it maybe a year ago on T-mag, which is usually a very credible magazine. I'll try and find the link.

That's gross...people like Kate Moss or Calista Flockhart eat one meal a day...and it consists of crackers and lettuce. If those images aren't enough to scare your friend, I don't know what is...
 
it's hard some people just wont listen to advice, the only way for her to realize it is to do it. bargain with her to try eating more often out for a couple of weeks and then ask her how she feels after that. tell her it is just a couple of weeks and if she doesn't like it then she can go back to her old unhealthy ways

i think im going to try to get her to eat more meals that are really low cal
any ideas besides salads?
 
low gi carbs and make sure there is a little lean protein with every meal, just get her foot in the door she will realize that eating more and more often is better/healthier,

How overweight is she that she thinks that 6 really low cal meals, or 1 will do it for her?
