How important is diet to a 15 year old? I say this because I'm still in high school and it's kind of hard to eat like I should. On top of that, my mom isn't too keen on me changing my diet so I have that setback which is probably the biggest of all. So I'm wondering ... is there any way to kind of "half diet" or maybe just not diet at all?

Just eat healthy. As long as your not an endo-morph your youthful metabolsim will serve you well. But you may soon find out that what you think is healthy may not be. Eating healthy means whole grains, lean foods, no pizza(yeah I know, its a heartbreaker), veggies. If your trying to gain size, eat alot of good food. Just try to stick to good food.

Believe me im 15 and it's hard I just cut out soda and chocolate out of my diet for abt 3 weeks...

Well its not that hard. I mean I'm 16, go to school, honors/ap classes, and I always eat healthy and havent cheated for around a month or something. The hard part for me is not only do I eat healthy, I have to eat alot of damn food. lol Everyday I bring a bag with several pounds of food.

What about your diet does your mother disagree with?

It's hard for me I goto some honors and academic classes, im a freshmen in highschool and have 3 majors it drives me nuts. I don't care abt school anymore because I think it's a waste of my life and I have better things to do, like weight lift :D

it's hard to really explain why my mom doesn't want me to diet. she's pretty picky about almost everything so it wasn't really a surprise when she wouldn't let me change my eating habits. I believe she thinks that something like that is something for adults and it will "stunt my growth" or some kind of other random thing.

Edit: another thing i'd like to add that I might as well ask while im here:
The deal is, I want to lose some excess fat, but I also want to gain a lot of muscle, so should I eat like I want to gain weight or lose it?

Just eat healthy. Tell your mom that your not dieting, tell her your eating healthy so you can gain some muscle. You cant make good gains eating junk. How much do you weigh?

If your under 155-160 you most likely to have an ectomorph bodytype. So that and the fact that your young will mean you need to eat alot. Just gain some muscle and your bodyfat % will go down. Unless your overweight, you dont want to do any serious cutting or weight loss when your young because your still growing. Plus teenage years are the optimal time for lean mass growth so take advantage of it.

Now your talking like a dumb fuck. 1st in your life should be your schooling. You won't have mommy and daddy there to buy all those groceries your gonna need to be a good bodybuilder. Now quit talking like an asshole and start thinking about those books. No School, No Money, No money, NO NOTHING

 Couldn't agree more.

School is much more important to you at this stage in your life. How do you expect to pay for your protein powders and gym membership without a good job?
