ANYBODY EVER USE THIS SCEEM

I'm using it right now, but only because my back hurts and I don't want to go heavy. If I had my druthers it would be 6 to 8 heavys.

I do leg press, lunges and extensions mostly.

Why? I guess cause I really do not think I can grow much more naturally. Once you get into your 30's you start to realize your physical limitations I guess. :)

Also, I really do not have a need to get my legs bigger. They were always my gifted body part, responded well. My goals from a bodybuilding stand point are really more focused towards looking good & fit and being healthy.

And lastly, I little bit of laziness. :D

Don't get me wrong, I think squats are a great exercise, and I still do them once in awhile.

I use them now and then for more of a shock to my legs than for putting on mass.

oh my god prince,30's limitations, you just scared the he!! out of me .is this catchy, are there pills for this.:) j/k i use 20-30 rep squats to break things up a bit, when ya meet ralph, you've done enough.just have a pail handy:thumb:

I've followed a 20-rep squat program several times in the past, but that routine is a bit too brutal for me.I did gain some good mass while doing them though.

For you Gentlemen that use a high rep squat technique at times, How many sets and at what % of your max??

It's sad, and I never thought it would happen to me...but once you get into your 30's it just seems like you do not recover as quickly, you get injured more often and more easily. So, you have to be careful and take it easy! :D

hmm question guys.. my brother is almost 30 now.. he only ways 155lbs and he is about 5'6 i say or so.. he is very little and he wants to grow.. and as prince just said once you reach that age there is not really much to do maybe not that way.. the problem with him is that he is a doctor and is not constent with his excersies.. i tried to get him on a protein diet but he can't do it while not working out off course any ideas?? or just keep pressuing him to be consistent.. he is only trying to get bigger and in good health

Pemburu- I've been advised and tried two seperate approaches to 20-rep squats. The first is to take a poundage that you can squat with for 10 reps in perfect form, and do 20 reps without re-racking the bar.Once the reps start getting very difficult to complete, you start doing rest-pause type reps; keeping the bar on the shoulders, you take 8-10 deep breaths between each rep until all 20 reps are completed. This is the so called "hard core" approach and is outlined in Randall Strossen's book "Super Squats", where the author supposedly gained 30 pounds in 6 weeks by focusing on 20-rep squats.
The second variation is to take 60% of your 1rm and do 20 reps(in the same rest-pause fashion as above if necessary).Only one set was recommended for either approach with a frequency of twice per week.Once twenty reps was completed, it was recommended to add 5-10 pounds to the bar and repeat.

prince...i hear though i wake up in the morn and feel a few more aches and pain than 10 yrs ago,but i'm bull headed like my dad,i just keep on keeping on:D :)

I use the 20 rep sceam every once in a while when my legs get stale. I'm usually sore as hell for the next 2 days.

do these once in a while....also with deads...sometimes called breathing sqauts/deads ....the heart is pounding and you need 6 -10 breaths between the last few reps...suppose to stimulate the the realease of testosterone....

Thanks Ballast for the ideas. I think I'll give it a whirl when I'm able.:thumb:

I've been doing them for 6 weeks now. Real brutal, but what can I expect for being 45. There's one thing I don't understand....it seems that I can't get over 120lbs. I have gained size tho.

rjp- the 120 sounds like a mental thing to me.Squatting 20 reps with heavy weight always sounds formidable.Just keep at it.

I usually do 15 reps, starting out with the warm ups and just going heavier and heavier, I've done as high as 12 sets but usually stay at 4 and up to 25 reps but that is all I did in those workouts, knocks the hell out of the legs

I'll go heavy 6-8 reps 2 sets and my final set I'll drop the weight about 40% and pump out as many as I can till failure, usually about 20. However I only do dumbell squats at home. It does feel like i'm getting a great workout, my legs are spent after I'm done, by the way I'm 38 yrs. old, 39 in march.

Don't start   yet SKINSFAN, it doesn't get any better. You're only a decade past your prime:D :D

Prince, why do you say that? How big are you, and what are your lifts?

What physical limitations it's all mental

I heard someone singing the Canada song, I laughed and if you have a problem blame Canada, blame Canda:D :D

Mystic Eric you remeinded me cause your from Canada:thumb:

I love high rep leg training in general...well, actually, I hate it as it makes me wanna puke...but I love the results. I will sometimes do 50 rep leg presses or supersets of extensions for 15 reps to failure followed by hack squats for another 15 to failure. This type of brutal training seperates the men from the boys! However, this is also brutal on your recovery systems, so I would not recommend that it is used more than once every 4 leg workouts.
