Is doing anything over 12 - 15 reps good for shocking a body part for increased strength? If it is how long do you "shock" it for? One workout or 8 full weaks? Thanks.
I do one heavy set of 8 reps and 1 20 repper with a weight I can only get 10-12 with. This is for my quads only.
When I talk about a 20 repper with a weight i can only get 10-12 with is I get 10-12 reps and then I may have to take 3 or 4 deep breaths and get another 1 or 2 until i get 20 reps in. This for me is to help me build a larger quad
high reps are great for endurance but not for strength. I always cycle in some weeks of high rep training, it's a nice break for the CNS vs lifting heavy all the time
You can do the Shock week from P/RR/S. It's a superset (compound/isolation) followed by another superset (isolation/compound) and ending with a dropset.
The strongest my bench ever was when I was doing 1 heavy workout a week of 8 reps....4 sets flat 4 sets incline, 2 sets flys......and 1 workout light 1 or 2 sets of 20-30 reps on bench only.
