Ford spent $5 million developing this car, and another $2 million just building this particular one. This is the first and only one of this type in existence, and was completed yesterday afternoon in California. In January of 2004 it was sketched out on paper. In February a full size mockup was molded in clay. Now, a year later, the real thing is on it's way to the Detroit Auto Show. This car wasn't a mockup or a shell. The sculptor, designer and escort for the car is hoping it will take best of show this year. And Kitty Hawk delivered it!

This is the 2007 Ford Shelby GR1 concept car. If Ford decides to put it into production, potential buyers can expect to pay around $200,000 for it.
The entire exterior of the car is polished aluminum, and it has liquid cooled LED headlights.

as I understand it, that car has the V-10 that the new cobra concept has. If thats the case, don't expect to see it in production, like the new cobra concept. They can't get that motor to pass emmisions laws for 2007 so they probably won't make it.

I still see some pantera styling queues in that car too, especially around the windows.

That's the one that was at the Det. auto show.

The $5mil includes the cost of the Shelby cobra project. Since that took a dump, they have to go through with the GR1.

I'd settle for a plain jane Ford GT

Sweet Mother of All that's Holy...

Its a concept.. Plus its using the new Cobra V-10, and they cant get it to pass emissions.

Now it works.. That F1 is bad ass. But not as cool as the Shelby.

there ya go ;)

and holy shit, that's aluminum!

I wonder if that dents easily....

The Shelby, the aluminum one. It would totally be fucked if you got a ding in it

Not bad, but it doesn't have the finesse and style of a Ferrari.

What makes you think that. Anything can pass emission, they just need to tweak the fuel and timing map.

They ARE making the GR-1

There's a couple aluminum cars that have been out there for a while. The Acura NSX (since 1990) and the Audi A8 (since 97).

I see very little similarities between this concept car and the Aston Martin DB7
