So I posted an article on my blog.. heres the gist of it.
5 Tricks To Keep You Motivated
1. Visualize Success
- What is your top goal? What do you want to achieve at the VERY end of your journey? Visualize yourself at this point. Close your eyes and picture it. Make it as vivid as possible. Hear all the sounds, smell all the scents. Realize that you CAN achieve this IF you do the work.
2. Reward Yourself For Consistency
- So you've kept a clean diet for a couple weeks. Maybe you haven't missed a workout in months. Reward yourself. Have a cheat meal, or maybe take an extra day off. You'll come back refreshed and inspired. Don't go overboard or you're just taking steps backwards.
3. Think About Your Competition
- Do you have a person or people you compete against? Other athletes? Maybe a lifting partner? Imagine them right now in the gym, getting a little bit stronger than you. A little bit faster than you. A little bit BETTER. If that doesn't light your fire, maybe you need to take up baking.
4. Don't Over-train OR Under-train
- Over-training is what can happen when you either A) Don't eat enough or B) Don't rest enough between your workouts. This leads to fatigue, injuries and LACK OF MOTIVATION. Light your fire, but don't burn yourself out! On the other hand, don't under-train either. Under-training can be not training frequently enough, or not training intense enough. This leads to boredom and of course lack of motivation. Always challenge yourself!
Yes, I purposely left the final trick off the list
