Big Dan, if you are just starting back and very deconditioned. I think the best thing you can do is a total body workout. focus on compound movements and keep the volume low for right now.....2 sets x 12-15 repetitions. Work on developing a solid base level of conditioning. Set up some cardio for a few days a week too and just get back to moving around. If you are that overweight, I would stay away from treadmills and anything with impact. Get on the bike.

thanks for your input..
I shall begin thsi tomorrow.

P-funk - what's your opinion on the bike compared with the cross/eliptical trainer?

whatever gets you up and doing something.

I am not an eliptical trainer guy. I find the motion strange. It is tough to get a good feel on it IMO and it is even tougher to do interval work on it because it always feels like you are rolling one leg over the other more.

I like the bike. I like bikes with the moving arms as part of them (dual action).

I don't like treadmills so much.

I do like rowers and versa climbers the best though.

The stairmill is okay.
