This might sound like a stupid question but I was curious as to what most of you do when you are sick with a cold? Do you wait until you feel better or do you wait until the cold is fully gone before going back to the gym?

Last Wednesday I decided to take the rest of the week off as I was starting to feel tired and figured it would be better for me to rest before I got sick(cold bug is going around). Well so much for my good effort since I got up with a sore throat on Thursday morning and now I'm stuck with congestion.

I'm really anxious to go back to the gym with my new workout routine but I'm not willing to infect the rest of the population(but they say you are most contagious at the first signs of a cold) :) Any tips on getting back on my feet faster besides rest? I'm not really hungry and I'm forcing myself to eat at this point and even though keeping hydrated is essential, I can't find myself to drink much since I just feel full :/

:(

hey man i was sick also a while ago. my best sugestion is rest and fluids even if you feel full you have to keep drinking water to flush out the system. thats what the doctors says anyway drink alot of fluids. also try oj and vitamins. i alwas liked hot tea with honey for a soar throat. well hope ya feel better soon

I'm just getting over my mine. Well, sorta getting over it. Started out the same. Sniffles and sore throat. Then all at once, hits ya hard. Needless to say, I haven't been the gym all week. Well, to weight train. Monday morning I did cardio and this morning I did cardio. Only 15 min worth at an extremely easy pace.

When you're ready to go to the gym, you'll know it. Drink lots of fluids. I know I have been. The last thing you want to do is dehydrate yourself and be delayed even longer.

Before I go back to weight training, I'm playing it day by day. I may start weight training Friday or even Sat. or Sun. Don't know, but I do know one thing, when I go in I'm not going to hit it too hard and throw myself back in a bind. Be smart about it. Listen to what your body is telling ya. Get hydrated, eat & get plenty of rest. A week off would more than likely do ya some good.

I know it's hard. I'm use to going to the gym twice a day. I'm going through gym withdrawls. :shake: :bawling:

Last few times I got sick I did the same thing to get better. Sleep in late and get lots of rest, then once I get up eat something light followed by natural OJ, not sunny D crap. Then jump in a scolding hot shower, and I would stay in till the hot water ran out. This would get that icky feeling and chill out of me. Then dress up in the warmest clothes I had and keep drinking OJ all day. Along with a gallon of water and some well placed meals I would do this all day and just relaxe. The bug is ussually totaly gone in a day or two and then depending when I got sick and what I have missed I will hit the gym or wait for the next week. If I only misssually go and make that day up but if its 2 or 3 I wait for the next week to start again and rest up.
