Hello,

After a workout, is it better to take a protein shake versus a real meal? I usually mix in some cream of wheat into my shake so I can get my carbs in, just wondering if its better to have as a post workout meal because I hear everybody saying you need protein in your body as soon as possible so wehy protein is the best because it goes directly to your muscles for repair, where a regular meal it will take time to digest the protein. Also, since the idea is to get lean, do I need to worry about taking in simple carbs after a workout, because my glycogen stores are low after working out so I'm curious.

Last but not least, I usually do my workout early in the morning after eating breakfast. Now I've heard that its better to do your workout later in the day after you've eaten several meals, the reason for this is that if you workout earlier in the day then all the carbs that you eat with your meals afterwards are going to be stored as fat. I personally workout at different times each day in order to fit it in my schedule.

Thanks
Nick

personally i only take in 1 protein shake a day and only right after a workout just to get the fast acting protein, then i make a high protein meal after wards because that is the time your body will use the calories the most , that is when your muscles heal well the most of the healing is done then.

How long after taking the protein shake should I eat a real meal?
I'm eating 6 meals a day between 2 and 3 hours. Do you count a protein shake as a meal? Because I've seen MRP's before but I don't know if there the same thing as whey protein.

well if your eatign 6 meals its pretty spread out as it is i think you will be fine, i dont have the time to reak it down that much i have to work with 3 so i use a meal about an hour after my workout

Nothing personal but...Where in the FUCK did you hear this bullshit?

Haha, some self imposed bodybuilding guru on youtube who sells a book on Amazon...

By the way, do most of you measure out your food? I measure out all my food so that I make sure I'm taking in the right amount of protein, carbs, etc. I was just wondering how some of you guys eat. Because I find it to be a little bit annoying but I guess thats what it takes to build muscle.
