Hello,
After a workout, is it better to take a protein shake versus a real meal? I usually mix in some cream of wheat into my shake so I can get my carbs in, just wondering if its better to have as a post workout meal because I hear everybody saying you need protein in your body as soon as possible so wehy protein is the best because it goes directly to your muscles for repair, where a regular meal it will take time to digest the protein. Also, since the idea is to get lean, do I need to worry about taking in simple carbs after a workout, because my glycogen stores are low after working out so I'm curious.
Last but not least, I usually do my workout early in the morning after eating breakfast. Now I've heard that its better to do your workout later in the day after you've eaten several meals, the reason for this is that if you workout earlier in the day then all the carbs that you eat with your meals afterwards are going to be stored as fat. I personally workout at different times each day in order to fit it in my schedule.
Thanks
Nick
