Wrote about this on my blog the other day

Anyone who has some brains about themselves knows and understands a few things:

  1. The squat is the preeminent leg exercise
  2. The bench is the king of the upper-body exercises
But not nearly enough people who claim to be experts in the field of strength and fitness acknowledge or even understand the implications of the importance that the deadlift has for the realm of top back exercises! The deadlift dare I say is the finest single strength and size stimulator for the back. The Ed Coan Deadlift Routine is the best all-around back exercise routine ever devised. When the Ed Coan Deadlift Routine is performed correctly it allows for the deadlift itself to infuse power and stimulate growth in every muscle in the back!
A properly performed deadlift (Which the Ed Coan Deadlift Routine emphasizes), requires thighs, hips and lower back to break the weight from the floor; The lower latissimus and mid ?erectors kick in as the barbell slides up the sins and over the knees, crawling up the thighs, the upper lats, rhomboids, teres and trapezius lock the weight out. Even peripheral muscles like the glutes and hamstrings are stimulated by deadlifts!

I absolutely cannot stress this enough that every single muscle in the back receives a muscle building, strength infusing, jolt from a properly applied form of deadlifts.

if i could only do 1 exercise, it'd be the conv. deadlift :rocker:
