Police say John Henry Spooner shot Simmons last May after accusing the boy of stealing $3,000 worth of guns from his home.

The teen, who had lived with his mother next door to Spooner for only a month, was taking out the trash around 10 a.m. when Spooner accused the boy of the theft and demanded he return the shotguns. The teenager was unarmed when he was shot in the street outside their homes.

Could have been he was a young black kid, or he was just a young kid. Old folks suspect young kids are up to no good all the time.

I was a straight A student, minded my own business, didn't drink or do drugs in high school, in fact I acted as a designated driver to all my friends who did that stuff. But the old lady who lived across the street from me would call the cops on me on many occasions, and tell them she saw me look in her window while she was getting out of the shower as I walked down the street, or I took beers from her fridge, or I was smoking marijuana next to my truck in my driveway. The cops would come, her bathroom window was on the side of her house and too high to see anything put a persons head from the street, they found her missing beers in the fridge buried at the back, and it was winter and I was sitting on my truck waiting for a friend to show up she saw my breath in the cold air and suspected I must be smoking weed. She just had it in her mind that I was up to no good.
