i workout 3 times a week (very busy with work). i do ,chest triceps, back biceps and legs shoulders. i do abs in all workouts, about 5 minutes worth. is that amount ok or am i doing too much or too little?

I see trainers having their clients do this all the time, but I have yet to try it. It looks like a core exercise that works the abs, but again, I'm not sure. Anyone have a clue.
