I am curious how other guys do it. I am like most people I go out on the weekends from time to time stay up late, drink and party the night away. This causes major issues later when trying to do any kind of a decent workout. I know some of you can hang, any advice?
 
Moderation my friend. And lots of water.

This pretty much answered your question brother. If you want to grow and make progress you have to get serious. Hell some guys on this forum have not drank or done drugs in years for how serious they are. Now don't get me wrong, I have a drink or two from time to time but I don't stay out all weekend until 3 or 4 in the morning drunk as shit and expect to get a good workout in later. I guess I am getting old(34) but I just can't drink or recover the way I use to in my teens or early twenties...and I don't care to either. So I guess it comes down to how bad you really want it. I partied hard until I was 26 years old so from 17 to then I beat the shit out my body. Did I still lift...damn right! Did I make much progress...hell no. But to each his own.
 
I went out the other night and had 1 beer. Just like u said it hinders workouts like a bitch if your hungover sore ass joints from being dehydrated etc. not worth it. On New Years i would of normally been smashed but I had 2 or 3 beers last night. Either u wanna be drunk or u wanna improve urself. For me there's not really an in between anymore
 
If your serious about this sport then quit the parties....you aren't on Jersey Shore (or are you?) there's no need to party....drinks in moderation is one thing, but expecting to have solid results and great training following it is another.

Well I am as serious as most I think. The reality is I will never be a pro bodybuilder or fitness model. I go to the gym about five days a week and every other weekend (just Friday), I party with my friends. Just hate being wiped out that whole next week.... probably my body telling me to just stay home.....
 
if anything, at least tone down ur partying - don't drink/smoke so much
 
I don't drink much, I nurse drinks as long as I can... I do take lots of bathroom trips though... Truth is I'm not making past midnight with it...
But I don't do this as much as I used to maybe once a month... More in the summer less in the winter.

The best advice someone could give would be, everything in moderation... I'm not going to sit here and preach that if you want to have the bber look, you absolutely cannot drink or party... do be aware that many rec drugs are a dangerous combination with aas.... and also in and of themselves are/can be dangerous.... if you are prepping for a comp, Thats different... drinking and partying would be a huge deterrent to achieving the desired results....
 
i used to party pretty hard...really hard...once i stopped it all thinigs came alot easier..and like the one guys said.."the hangovers hurt more then they used too"..

I run a liter of saline IV before bed into myself, eat and drink 2 glasses of water

but if u party all night your workout will be shit
 
I just work my ass off all week and my day off is my recovery day from drinking and working out.

Can you say what rec drugs are dangerous on cycle ? I suspect your right, but go from worst to best please. I'm paranoid about hepatoxicity , and Trenphobic (LOL) . Thx OB.
 
pick your passion and follow it...you wanna look physically insane or look drunk and sloppy? do whats more important to you...and do the other in moderation. because the one that isnt your passion you wont be able to do anywhere near as much if youre truly dedicated to what you pick

AND - Not to mention the long term damage to your heart, liver , and kidneys from partying can be severe NOW add in gear and I would suggest one might be trying to kill themselves -

JUST My Opinion - I quit years ago and was one of my best decisions by far

Many of you must have very boring lives if you put bodybuilding over your social life. Please be sure to show off your pro cards in ten years from now.

Unfortunately some people do this, but I'm 33 and have a very healthy balance of partying and being healthy and have since I was 16. I have a good group of friends that are similar.
Of course I should define partying for me. I drink once or twice a month and get a buzz, and about every 3-6 months I go out and get hammered. Once a year I experiment w rec drugs.
I love what i do and it has no ill effects.

At that age, yes. You really think a 21 year old considers "social life" going on double dates to the movies after pizza? I partied hard with the best of them and my happiness revolved around all the good times I had. I am now at peace with not drinking much because I don't enjoy it as much but back then, if I had missed out on all the good times I had, I would die with tons of regrets later in life.

Also, I was serious about training in every other aspect and built a physique I never could have imagined I would ever achieve. I am very proud of myself and wouldn't trade it in for anything.

The replies in this thread, quite frankly, make me sick.

So the replies make u sick because of what? People not wanting to get trashed and feel like hell the day after? I enjoyed my party days that's for sure but u gotta grow up sometime. I still go out and have a good time but I don't see the need to get smashed. Plus the bloat the next few days sucks. I enjoy having abs alot more then drinking. With all that being said at 21 u best believe I'd be going out and having a good time. But moderation is key

Telling a guy who is having a great time consistently with friends to start staying in on weekends and take bodybuilding more seriously. That is pathetic. We are all free to do what we want to do in life. Very few replies even addressed his question.

Ya being young and staying in on weekends would be the type of thing a loner would do lol. Party all u want bro but in excess it's goin to hurt you in the long run. Hell I love drinkin me some beer but now days I nurse them. Might as well put a nipple on it. But going out and partying doesn't specifically mean drinking and getting high as fuck. U dont have to be fucked up to be happy and have a good time. Drink a ton of water and just make sure u stay hydrated. And definitely stay away from drugs that will jack up ur heart rate and bp. I know when I'm on cycle my bp tends to get a little high. I can only imagine what it would be like doing coke on cycle. I'd keel over lol. Just be safe bro and have fun
