Does anyone else here pruduce Mucas with Whey Protein in theri Diet?

I know I sure do and I am not sick but I think I have some sort of Allergy to Whey but I dont know if that is for sure the cause. I have slo heard to rotate your suppliers of powder to avoid an allergy, however, that seems odd that a simple change like a supplier change would make a difference.

What are some other complete protein powders besides Whey that I could try?

I don't produce mucus but I am allergic to Whey Protein. I have to use a Pea Protein or a Pea and Brown Rice mix for protein.

are you lactose intolerant or sensitive?

I am sensitive. It showed up on my allergy panel I had done. All dairy - including whey and casein, plus a number of other things.

Jodi.. I have been dealin with the same isssue of late.. well this past year or so .. finding I have low to no tolerance for anything with dairy or whey or even some by products .. which are found in almost Everything..basicly has brought my intake to one simple line of thought. If I dont cook it myself and keep it as close to bland as possible I am goin to have trouble with it later. My question is .. what is your intake regiment.. I dont like to say diet because its not something I can pick up and set down its a eat dont eat thing.

Excess mucous is a localized response to excess CNS excitation for the small intestines. Most folks don't understand that the nervous system is highly integrated into the function of all organs and tissues. This innervation is an important feedback loop to the brain on local organ function.

Foods with an excess of amino acids known to cause CNS activation are to be avoided in those with GI disease or a tendency towards 'excitable' intestinal response to stress, lack of sleep, or presence of these excitatory amino acids or peptides.

Note that the CNS response of the GI tract, particularly stomach and small intestines, are tightly linked to excess immune system / allergy response.

so what are people with this response to do to fulfill their protein needs?
rice protein and stuff like thta is not a complete protein like whey, lacking essential amino's.

In the immediate time frame, the solution lies in:

Adjusting doses (smaller doses) and "buffering" the loading rate.

Translation: smaller doses combined with fiber and immune modulating rice or oat bran works quite well for all the but the highest glutamine content wheys. Adding a small amount of olive oil also triggers a nerve mechanism that slows down gastric emptying = similar effect to buffering. Reduces the irritant concentration acting on gut contact points (CNS receptors).

In the longer timeframe:

Reduce stress where possible, learn stress management and reduction techniques. Use supplements that encourage a normalized balance of excitation to inhibition chemistry in the CNS.

Heal the gut lining. Use a combination of healthy fiber (slowly ramp it up to a normal load of 30+grams of fiber per day) and bran (rice, barley or oat brans) and glucosamine (NOT the sulfated plus MSM crap).

Use Sam-e.

Why? Glucosamine must be converted to its active form by goblet cells in the intestinal tract (also upper GI). It normalizes immune system function and improves retention of beneficial bacteria (and repels pathogens) in the gut.

And the reaction in goblet cells in the GI tract? It needs sam-e to occur.

This is why so many who take glucosamine for its beneficial effect on joints and connective tissue fail to see an effect.

great insight- thanks for the suggestions.

will other carbs like millet and quinoa(SPELLING) buffer it as well?

(they are complex carbs without gluten and wheat)

I am still having more trouble with this. It will come and go and it is really hittin me hard this past few weeks. I hack up clear mucas about 5 times an hour. I have tried eliminating food allergies and started taking out foods one by one and cannot find anything, nothing helps it. The only food I have not taken out is my Whey but I cannot live without whey, I cant eat 350 g of protein a day from solid food so I have to use the whey. I have switched from oat bran to buckwheat and that has helped alot with my stomach (I feel I haave either an allergy to wheat or gluten). I eat lots of fruit and broccalli so my diet is not bad at all.

TROUBLE: You said I shoudl take some supplements to calm the nervous system. I am taking Mag/Cal citrate powder from NOW nutrition at 200mg each 3 times a day ( usually from 3 pm on). The sam-e and glucosamine are out of my budget unless you really believe those are the solutions.

What the hell else shoudl I do, HELP!!!!!!!!!!( you said in a previous thread that some are calcium sensative, is this bothering me>)?

thanks Jodi-

I can live without whey but I am not thinking this is the reason.
I have been drinking whey shakes for about 5 years now and only in the last year or so has this become a problem.

Yeah I was too and it was never a problem either until this past year. Overuse made me sensitive to the whey and now I can't use it. You develop sensitivities to foods that you use on a daily basis.

No I can't as I have recently found out that I'm allergic to eggs as well

Yea I have same problem, lactose free normally is a load of garbage, still bothers me. Big amounts id be in hospital for sure.

I normally dont have to many reactions because I eat only certain foods, mainly meat some fresh fish "no tuna" . Bananas even bother me a tad, carrots.

Creatine - It affected my eyesight, gave me asthma and increased my heart rate rapidly. I'm not sticking by that sticky saying its the best.

Anyways I suggest you go get a skin prick test to test what allergins your allergic to.

BEST SUGGESTION I HEARD SO FAR !!! always get clincal diagnosisi or medical evaltuation instead of playing guessing games with your health. I see allergist tommorrow my self.
