I drained one in my shoulder. I pulled out 5 cc of pinkish watery play doh. The shit was gross and smelt like a rotten animal on the road.

damn, did it feel great? And did you end up going to the doctor later, or did the infection clear itself up?

if it ever happens to you and its red, itchy and hurting DONT wait, go to doc as its probably septic and you can go into shock and die.

a sterile abscess is blocked off and not reacting with your body, but it don't take much to go the other way.
just be careful.

It was not really bothering me other then I could see it. so it was not really that much of a relief physically. although mentally I did feel better. I did take a week of keflex as a precaution that I got from a vet supply.

I always tell the new guys if that injection site keeps you up at night due to pain or discomfort do not hesitate to go to the doctor. tell them you were hanging trusses in a garage, shed, barn and you think you got a piece of metal shaving in there. Who gives a shit if they believe you.

I would hate to loose a limb due to a bad shot and negligence

Maybe the swabs were contaminated:
Alcohol Swab Recall

by Leighann on January 10, 2011

This week the FDA announced a recall of alcohol swabs manufactured by Triad. These are sold under many store brand names including CVS and Walgreens.
The Examiner reports: The FDA is advising consumers to not return the product, but to contact the Triad Group Customer Service to obtain a return authorization number. You may call them Monday through Friday at 1-262-538-2900, toll-free at 1-800-288-1288.
When I called my local Walgreens late Sunday night, they said it was their understanding that the recall was at the pharmacy level, not the patient level. She said unopened boxes could be returned for a refund if we are concerned about them. She also said that they did have BD alcohol swabs on the shelf.
I waited for Monday morning to be able to call the company???s 800-number and the representative said that you are indeed supposed to take them to the pharmacy for a return. She said the pharmacy should credit you or exchange them. She stated that the pharmacies have accounts with them and will do all the paper work. She said that this is precautionary and there probably wouldn???t be issues with any alcohol swabs we might have. When I asked about lot numbers or knowing which ones are recalled, she said ALL of them.

I posted this in another thread but thought will post it here so newbies can see this too.

Sorry to hear that bro, but I wouldn't take the antibiotics.. Unless its an abbcess in which case it will need surgery.

I once pinned in my flute and I don't know weather I didn't sterilise properly or what but it swoll up was red to te touch could barley sit down all the signs of a abbcess.. But I just let my body deal with it on its own it took a good 3 weeks to start to go down and a few more till it went completely..

Each to there own I guess did the doc just say it was a Infection?
