Losing bodyfat and gaining muscle is tough it seems. What i've been doing lately is just free weights, upgrading from a Crossbar. I usually work out for an hour every other day and use heavy weights until I can't lift any more. I alternate between my upper and lower body.
My diet is fine, but not 100% perfect. 40% complex carbs, 40% protein and the rest fat like lard, butter and cheese. Ok, i'm kidding. I've pretty much cut bread out of my diet, except for once or twice a week. If I can't get in 6 meals a day I usually just use a MRP.
When my priority was JUST to lose FAT I was losing to much muscle as well, so now i'm eating lots of lean red meat. It's tough getting into eating so much of it. I usually only eat it on a workout day.
My bodyfat level appears to be going down on my calipers. On the scale I usually stay the same weight on an empty stomache. In 10 weeks or so i've only went from 226lbs to now 219lbs at 6'4". I know i've lost more fat than that though. I'm hoping I REALLY have just replaced some of that fat with muscle.
It's just frustrating. I felt my belts would start getting loser, but not really. I have the same size pants still. I've had a brand new pair of size 36 pants and still can't fit into them. I measure my body parts..chest, navel, 2" above, 2" below, arms, legs etc and very little changes. The biggest change is ALWAYS on the caliper. I don't know why. It's confusing. I'm sure that i'm doing it correctly. Maybe you can look at my stats and see if things are going well. Maybe they're not 100% accurate or would be impossible to be accurate. Who knows. I'll just keep at it. At the very least I do notice a little bit of change in the mirror. My goal right now is to get down to 12% BF. I was 287 once..went down to 196lbs..stopped working out and went up to 226 and then started over and instead decided to try harder to maintain muscle, lose fat and maybe even gain a little muscle in the process as well.
Here's what i've recorded so far:
8/15/04:
21.3% BF
8/27/04:
17.3% BF
224lbs
fat: 38.75
lbm: 185.25
9/16/04:
220lbs
15.8-16.1% BF
lbm: 184.8
fat: 35.2lbs
9/18/04:
219lbs
Haven't checked the rest yet
So far so good?
It almost looks to me that the BF seems to drop too quickly and that it doesn't seem accurate? Hmm...
