Anyone out there tried the Anabolic Diet? A high-fat/low-carb diet with a loading phase about every 7 days that lasts for 24-48 hours? Curious if anyone out there has made the 'metabolic shift' and has anything positive (or negative) to say about it? Thanks.

his newer diet is the metabolic diet at www.metabolicdiet.com , has tons of info. The diet is great and does work well, it's basically a CKD similar to BodyOpus but w/out a structured carb up and no depletion workout. The Metabolic Shift takes longer to occur on this type of plan b/c of the constant weekend carb-ups. Many can get better results w/ a 1 or 1/2 day carb up (if desired) every other week. Dr. DiPasquale is very knowledgeable and well respected and knows his stuff. Lyle's Ketogenic Diet book is much more in depth to the science of these diets, and can be found at www.theketogenicdiet.com

It seems related to Faigin's NHE (Natural Hormonal Enhancement)

What I like about Faigin's book is the amount of research that went into it. I think it references 1700+ studies, so in my mind it has a pretty solid scientific foundation.

NHE requires the metabolic shift as well. I found making the shift mildly difficult. My energy went down after a couple of days, and I was dying for some pasta. After a few days though, energy came up (to normal level) and the pasta craving went away. After that it's a cake walk. I suspect you might have some of the same "side effects" if you decide to make the shift. Other than that, I feel better than I ever have.

If your interested, I'd say give Dr. DiPasquale's diet a try and see what happens. As mentioned, he's regarded very well in his line of work.

You may also want to take a look at the book I mentioned above for more info on these types of eating plans. (or just something to compare it too). NHE info at www.extique.com if you want to check it out.

The anabolic diet is more like a CKD.

NHE involves carbing up only over 1-2 meals every 3rd and 4th day.

What is the difference between DiPasquales two books "Anabolic Diet" and "Metabolic Diet"? I know, in AD you only carb-up for a day or two, what about the MD?
