another rant... training notebooks...wtf!

Yup, I just checked out you pics. Nice work . That journal is really working for you.

And funny enough, I train with one of the top bb's around here and hes not using a journal.....hmmmmm. Interesting, no?

Every guy I see in the gym with a journal spends more time looking at it and scribbling in what weights he used.....man, just f-ing work out. They have all looked the same since I joined 2 years ago. A journal is for ADVANCED bb'ing.
You seem like a nice guy that gets in trouble for saying dumb shit a lot.

I use a journal as a way to keep me motivated as well as a guide of how I am progressing with my specific goals. It's a great way to see the bigger picture-a way of organizing your training over an extended period of time.

I do wonder what people are writing so much in their books for though, when i take my journal its got the workout for that day already written in...its like some people do the opposite and write in what they actually DID after making it up on the fly?

I guess the journal thing is not for everybody though, lol.

Obviously the bottom line is that no matter how much you write down, if you're not doing the right things you wont progress either way. I reckon keeping a journal is a pretty good way of perhaps figuring out where you're going wrong if you plateau or arent progressing as youd like.

Im a firm believer in the saying "You cant see where youre going, without knowing where you've been".

I guess I am just a little guy who doesnt need to keep a journal anymore.....my bad I will go delete every entry I have made.

I for one carry a little note book and mark the weight down in it after each lift. I do have everything already prelined out before I get there though. Its not like I look like I am writting a book. However if someone wants to, why should you care? This kinda reminds me of that guy who came on here and said something about a guy at the gym cutting him off. That guy was so scared he was stuttering. I think the members name was boyton.....anyway he also made the remark he would crush the guy, but he gave him a free pass on this day.

Kinda thought I would throw that out there......just reminds me alot of that thread.

Many of us keep journals for multiple reasons. I keep a notebook, because I want to have an electronic copy, and a backup, hence the original. I sometimes look back to see what worked for me and what didn't. I sometimes keep a diet journal during summer while I cut, also. Journals are great of figuring out what things worked and what didn't, just as DOMS stated previously.

k, anyway, if you could actually understand what I wrote, if you keep a journal thats great. But guys who are in the gym every f-ing day and just walk around all lost with their stupid notebooks, sitting o the bench I need etc. gets a little old. I have never kept a journal, I seem to just be able to remember, or know instinctively what needs to be done and I just have at it.Thats all, I just wanted to rant and get your panties in a knot.

haha...Man , you gotta understand, I guess I just based this rant upon observing these idiots at my gym over the last year and a half. Im gonna change my opinion a little ... It's good to have a journal if you use it to your advantage, however Its frustrating to me; like when guys throw on a belt for every exercise.. ,when they just do the exact same lame ass low intensity crappy, pathetic looking workout day in day out and keep a record of it.

Honestly though.....does it effect you? I can see if they are sitting on the bench you are wanting to use......but other than that does it effect you?

Oh and I meant it is in my journal (just as I said).....my online journal here at IM.
 
yup it does, especially the ones who ask for advice, then they don't take it. Then the next day they are doing the same workout and keeping track of it in their journal.I think what I need is a hardcore gym with all huge guys working out or something cause I just feel like telling some of these people to go home and jerk it.

wasnt anything to be impressed about, just stating a fact, I guess winning provincials and getting an invite to nationals is nothing anyway. Probably wasn't even hard for him. Why you felt the need to chime in is beyond me. I seriously can not think of one reason other than to jump on the bandwagon of love. But thanks for the tip. I have a tip for you too. That was a joke. And I would also say that that is an ignorant statement, as I believe that a lot of bodybuilders know a damn thing, maybe not all about fitness modelling or powerlifting,but to say that, is ignorant.

I would have to say alot of bodybuilders know very little about health in general. Do they know how to pack on muscle? Yes! But seems like they fall by the way of heart failure a bit to often.

I can't stand when people come to the board and brag about working with pro's or top BB's. Like it's suppose to be impressive or something. Annoys the shit out of me. I know a few pro's myself and have worked out with them and I can tell you for a damn fact, they don't know jack shit! They have people telling them what to do.
 
and last I checked this was "iron magazine bb forums" with a picture of a bodybuilder in the top left of the page and everything.And you sell bodybuilding supps, etc.So i guess what your saying is that people on this board don't know a damn thing. That's not very nice, there are a few good uns here, I'm just not one of em.

Ya I will agree a little with that, some guys just get coached the whole way, must be nice, but others know their shit ....but whatever right? the important thing is Im about to eat 2 huge steaks and bourbon prawns, im so excited .:thumb:
