Any Golds Gym members here, i was thinking about joining(or bally total fitness) because i am sick of the lack of major equipment i have at home, how much does it cost a month, or year, thanks.

All I know, is that I read a rant recently about a Golds Gym that didn't allow grunting of any kind. If you do so you lose your membership.

I go to Gold's and its different at every gym. I was at one Gold's that charge $50.00 a month now I go to a different one and they only charge $30.00 a month and I can go to any Gold's I want.

If thats true Mudge then there's alot of people at my gym that should have lost their membership

I'm in my 4th year at the same Golds. No problems here.

Umm...........I went to one in Maryland a few times while visiting my Aunt. I liked it! Great juice bar!

I go to Gold's and love it and also, when travelling, can use any Gold's in the US.

I like it! And we have a great "juice" bar too, Mudge!!!

;) I go to what was formerly a Worlds Gym, I wish they were open a little later and I wish they had a different 4 way neck machine, but I like it.

we just had a gold's open here close to my house. i drove by it to see what it looked like on the inside. it had huge machines i had never seen before. what happened to all the simple benches and weights? call me old-fashion, but i prefer the regular arnold day eq.

i got membership to 2 gyms, golds and crunch. both are cool, golds has a lot of celebrity bodybuilders and shit, down here in atlanta. so its gets a lot of hype. Crunch is cool because its got everything that the golds does plus more, and less people.

Is Gold's Gym some sort of legend in the US? I here it mentioned everywhere, not just on weightlifting/bb sites...

Hey BigBallaGA :) I am in Atlanta as well and train at Gold's. You sound like a lot of my friends who are members at both Gold's and Crunch. The only difference is that they seem to say the Crunch has more people.

haha funny.

but crunch is a bigger gym, as fas total gym area. but i think golds gets more crowded because of high volume of people that go to the weight room. but crunch does have a lot of people as far as people using all the other facilities besides the gym.

I have a lifetime membership to Golds (don't ask how, I just do). It's a great gym and I've never had a problem at any of the ones I've visitied. If I was to choose over any golds or a CANDY ASS BALLYS,,, it's Golds all the way. Ive been to several Ballys during my travels and you can keep it. Bunch of homos if you ask me.

I went to a Bally's for four years. What a SHITHOLE. I went there because the location was convenient. As soon as I changed jobs, I joined a Powerhouse. Now THERE is a gym!!!!

I was a member of Bally's Sports (which is the snobby version of Bally's but still a shithole). When Bally's brought out Crunch, I upgraded to Crunch and I have never been happier. To answer your question, anything is better than Bally's.

fuck all of them health clubs like bally's and 24 hr, clown shows all the way. today at my gym they had a stand in the lobby that was selling makeup to people, yes that is right. I couldn't believe it. I hate my gym, I am embarrased to be a part of that shit

Yea Gr8 your a big dissapointment to me. I'm ashamed that you belong to a powder puff gym. I hope your hanging your head down right now young man. hahahahaha

I have no choice, it is like 5 min from my house and I need to get a meal in directly after my WO. besides I cannot find another place to go I have tried. There are no hardcore gyms in Seattle that I can find. There are a few places that are probably a LITTLE better than 24 hr but they are so much farther away that it isn't worth the drive anyway. I have really been stressed out about this lately though, I don't know what to do, I hate my gym SOOOO much. I am going to start throwing dumbells at the next person that talks to me during my training. People just stare at me while I am in there and it really bothers me. I am not in there fronting and making a fool of myself, I am just working hard and going about my business and aparently that is crazy for people to see. what do I do fire, I am going crazy?

Basically Gr8,, sorry to say your fucked right now. You just have to make the best of it and TRY to stay focused and ignore as much as you can. I know it's hard, I've been there. Give em some nasty looks and maybe they will get the hint htat staring is ignorant.

I usually handle it well and have great WO, after all I have been training there for a long time now. In fact some times the jokers in there fuel my intensity. Its just on days like today when I am not necessarilly on top of my game b/c I am tired, those are the days that it gets to me, the place can just suck the test right out of my WO. Thank god I have my mp3 player with me so I can focus. I am totally in my own world in there, I walk around with my head down so as not to make eye contact with anyone. It isn't such a problem that it keeps me from making gains or anything, I still get done what I need to get done, it is just BS. I supposed I can't expect everyone to be a hardcore BB like me right I just wish they wouldn't be in my way using machines I need.

No you can't expect everyone to have the same goals but it's nice to have a few lingering about.

I'm fixed in my ways now and prefer working out at my home gym. I haven't lifted in a gym on a daily basis in over 8 years.

Jim Gold was one of the early big names in Gym land. The franchise was bought from him sometime I think in the 90s, I think he got involed with World Gym sometime after.

Vince Gironda, another famous guy also threw in the towel/retired in the 90s.

I believe his name is JOE Gold Mudge.

Doh! I thought I was having a hard time with Vinces name, oops. Jim? Yeah, that sounds tough, Jimmy...

no no ,, Joe and or Joey Gold Not Jim

Joey Joe Joe?

I was repeating my mistake, wondering how I came up with that, my 3 brain cells weren't quite firing tonight.

brain cells that fire can't be a good thing..
