I am proudly serving in the Army for the past nine years and love it. I am currently serving as a Drill Sergeant crushing chumps, remarking clay and producing men. So come on in and hopefully you will come see you and I can shoe you some brotherly love. He He He. Lol.

Do you like Drill or would you have rather recruited. That drill pay must be nice tho

I really want to become a ranger and one day special forces. Its something ive dreamed of since i was a child.

Curious how your goals have changed or your status wrt the above comments. Not encouraging anyone to enlist or go through officer training, just nosy or curious. :thumb:

what job did you have and if you could have done something else what would you have done?

Was a rated journalist, mentioned that in this thread previously, but did mostly clerical work. Was also one of the ASROC rovers onboard -- first ribbon was for marksman, probably what I was most proud of during my military service. lol That little ribbon. Plus a ton of other collateral duties like many military personnel. Wouldn't have done anything else. Advancement for journalists was good and it was a fun job as well. Clerical duties with the yeomen and personnelmen wasn't a bad gig either.

same I wish I would stayed in for 20.

X2 :D And that or a variation of those words ^^^^ probably the most oft repeated statement.

82nd Airborne Division. Typing this from Afghanistan.

Thank you for your service, brother.

Ain't no way you'd ever get me to join the military. :nope:

(Mildly curious whatever became of our eager young recruit? I wonder if anybody ever clued him in on Air Force Forward Air Controllers? Badass boys with badass toys. :shooter: )

6 years in the army. I was 11b(airborne infantry). Was kind of in a special unit. Worked with ODA(operational detachment alpha) and some SF guys. Did plenty of SKT's(small kill teams) and other cool shit. Got to grow a beard and a mohawk because we were so far out from everyone else and had a cool PL(platoon leader) who was a cowboy. He wanted to get into a firefight everyday. He was cool as shit because he was a prior enlisted e-6 and was tired of seeing pussy officers running platoons into the ground. If I was single I would have stayed in for 20 years. My daughter was a "daddy's girl" and had bad separation problems. When I was deployed my wife had to take her to a therapist. After that I said enough was enough and got out. But do I miss it...every fucking day. The part I miss most...the brotherhood! That my bro on either side of me would die for me and me the same for them. That was my second family.
