Like I've said before, with the "bringing democracy" war in Iraq and that numb nuts Bush, they've gift wrapped the election for the democrats. And what did the democrats do? They send a crazy white woman and a black racist to the elections.

it has been speculated by some that the reason we have a black man and a woman democrat potential is because the republicans knew that a woman or a black man will never be voted president. As such, the first people to toot the Obama/Clinton horns were republicans so that they were the only candidates we heard about. It's just a theory, but I'm throwing it out there.

Secondly, it has also been speculated that the only reason Obama is doing well is because he's a good speaker but with no competence as a president. Well, at the moment we have a bad speaker with no competence as a president, so it is at least a step up.

And you are right, I haven't contributed much. After spending 7 years working full time at $0/hour to get an education, I have only been taxed at over 30% for one year. Don't worry, the government will make that up quickly. They'll skim 30 to 40% off the top for the next 40 years; ten years from now I'll have paid more than most Americans pay in a life time. But I should have to, because I was privileged, going to public school in the 49th state in the country in terms of education, and then financing my own graduate degree.

My question is, what is Obama going to change? Give me something to like about him. I'll list the most obvious changes, none of which I like:

-Cut and run from Iraq, no matter the consequence

-Raise taxes on those who already carry the greatest tax burden

-Start another social entitlement program

-Cut the military

-Increase government spending

Like subsidized access to state universities and grants and low-interest student loans. Now being a university student, you surely recall the benefits of those low-cost insurance programs provided to students - along with cut-rate prescriptions and an on-campus health center with major discounted treatment. I also love how with every breath you downplay the role of achievement and work. People who get good grades go to college. People who get good grades there go to graduate school if they like. So people who go to public schools weren't "given" or handed an opportunity, in the same way that your idealized victims are handed a welfare check. Well, you need to find some support for that claim. Income tax is not the only source of revenue for the federal government, nor is it the sole source of revenue for the state and local governments. You buy a loaf of bread, you pay a tax. You buy a gallon of gas, you pay several taxes. You have a telephone, you pay several taxes. You go to public school and the government provides funding for that school to continue to exist. Your tuition and fees don't cover much. You don't seem to mind government handouts when they benefit you. . .and no one told you that you had to go to college, did they?

As someone who worked his way with a full-time job through undergraduate school and worked my first internship for FREE while holding down my full-time job, I know hard work. I donated my education and skills to a professional position 30 hours a week for three months for zero compensation while working full time at my paying job. Not even gas money. . .so I would have the opportunity to do what I wanted. Bettering myself doesn't make me better than the people I worked with at a utility, ya know - they worked hard at their own jobs. I just didn't bitch about the price of pursuing my own dreams.

You apparently don't know much about the history of education in this country, nor the history of higher education. Before World War II, college was considered a luxury reserved for the most wealthy Americans, even when it was publicly funded. Most public universities started as institutions designed for teacher education - and lower class Americans were only admitted to those institutions because the country had a massive shortage of teachers and the government provided loan forgiveness and tuition grants.

By the way, McDonald's runs it's own corporate university, and many of their management employees make good salaries - which, of course, means they pay income taxes. But if they started out making minimum wage and whining like you do about the prospect of paying taxes and "bettering" yourself, maybe they should be bitching at the government to stop taking their money to provide you with avenues to "better" yourself so they can invest in something nicer in their own lives.

And since you are in that lower third (and not voting for Barack) your vote should be counted because you are more concerned about having to contribute in the future.
