I've started deadlifting more now but I'd like to build proper form so that I can take the weight higher and prevent injury.

Does anyone know any good exercises to increase flexibility/strength of some of the muscles involved with the deadlift? Also, any good ideas on ways to perfect my DL form would be appreciated. I've tried P-funk's exercises for "Troubleshooting your squat" and those have worked well for me. Something similar for deadlifts would be really helpful.

I don't believe there is a substitute for a dealift to learn form for a deadlift.
You learn form either by having an experienced trainer watch you and give recommendations or practice with light weight until you have it down pat.

start with rack pulls and work on good form and develop proper hip mobility and movement. as you get more comfortable, more the rack bar down lower, until you are eventually pulling from the floor.

observe folks at gyms, find videos here, then video yourself and compare. for a time while i was learning, i had a mirror to my right so i could watch my whole lift (w/ light weights).

Doing regular stretching and flexibility work also wouldn't hurt if you don't do any already.

i remember when i was really trying to prefect my form on deads two things really helped me.

first of all you need to understand its one whole movement, not two sperate movements. what i mean is i used to start to straingten my legs first and then bring the back up. it should be one whole movement. so two things really helped me, first of all i started scraping the bar up my shins which seemed to help me and secound of all i kept thinking in my mind i am not goinging to start strainghening my legs untill i have brought the bar upto my knees, once the bar has reached the knee i start to drive the hips forwards.

i use to always wonder why people say deads are great for adding thickness in the back, and well once i started doing them right i completely understand.

great advice from everyone esl, lighten the weight and make a video of yourself aswell.

If you can get video of yourself deadlifting, guys here can point out if something is wrong. You can also search for some articles or blog posts on the net for How to Deadlift.. here is one example:

Thanks, I'll be practicing that movement, maybe on weekends or something with a light weight to try and keep the form good.

Guess I also have to keep stretching those hamstrings.

^^true, depends on the gym though. same as the internet videos. take it all in and decide.
