Hi, Im new here, I posted this question on another site and a nice thread started, seems to be a good debate going.
I used to buy affliction stuff when it was simple, but now its way out of hand, all the mma stuff is, skulls, crosses, death, full printed all over with foil.
I just want a good high quality tshirt in the $50 to $100 range that doesnt look like a nightmare. The problem is, those companies actually print on better softer, distressed, vintage style shirts which are really comfortable.

Whats your opinion on the current stuff and does anyone know any decent brands that are a cleaner and simpler design wise, i cant seem to find any.
One company actually, but i can wear the shirt over and over.

you want to spend 50-100 dollars on a t-shirt? WTH are you thinking man? If you spend more than 19.95 on a t-shirt it better come with a blow job.

this sounds like the beginning of a viral marketing tactic:run:

It does the way its worded, i guess i wrote to much, maybe i should have just left the question, are mma style shirts getting played out and whats your opinion of them?

some brand will get mentioned in a post like this, but your talking about apparel right?

Have you ever worn a really high end shirt? ohhhhhhhhhh they feel good, better than some of the BJs ive gotten. there really is a difference. thats why it sucks that all the mma style stuff is printed from top to bottom with all kind of foil and stuff on it. im not a fighter, i dont want to look like one, i want something clean and smooth. skulls, death, crosses, not for me brother.

i dont care if people know how much my shirts costs, if i did i would buy all affliciton stuff, even if i didnt like it.

If you dont care, fine. I wouldnt believe you though cuz, well, why the thread?

I am not buying into a high dollar shirt "feeling good." Its just a Hanes shirt that you can get in a variety pack with a logo.

Nothing more.

you need to find better women if a "high end" t-shirt (isn't that an oxymoron?) feels better than a blow job.

Ive bought shirts that are similar to affliction, extreme couture, tapout, but are more than half the price. Ive gotten the same reaction as to if I did buy the higher dollar shirts. In other words, Ive been asked if I was a fighter.

I get complimented on the shirts as well, but theyre snug and Ive always gotten compliments on snug shirts cuz of my smashing physique. :spin:

Ive bought some real comfy cheap tees at Old Navy for around $5 that are very comfy, and I cant imagine Affliction being more comfy than the ones I bought

also anything that is printed on American Apparel should be the same type of stuff Im guessing, Ive never bought Affliction but I think I know the material you are talking about as far as comfort and you can get tees that feel like that for $5-$10

American Apparel | Men's Styles | Basic T-Shirts

Ohhh and to answer your question with my opinion, yes I think MMA style shirts are played out, I dont think they all look bad either, it is just the people who wear them pull it together with a complete douchebag style and ruins it for me....They seem to be targeted to dudebro frat boys/tools/guidos...

Ed Hardy, Affliction, and Tap Out in particular but out of those Id say I like Tap Out the best, when it comes to tee designs I like simplicity over the stuff you mentioned

I'll sell you a t-shirt for 40 bucks that has a collar that won't stretch-out, the tag printed inside so there's no itching and you can wash it with your regular laundry and not have to worry about it shrinking, fading nor the intricate design falling off....plus it's well known that celebrities like Michael Jordan and Charlie Sheen wear them.....:D

Tapout shirts are about as douchebaggery as you can get nowadays. Seriously. You put one of those on and you are announcing to the world "I AM A HUGE DOUCHEBAG!!!"

I'm gonna make millions by selling a shirt that says TapdaT with the TapouT look, I bet I'd sell zillions....

Maybe some are but I can vouch that Affliction shirts are more than that.

P.S. My girlfriend bought them for me, not myself.

Its no more absurd than buying a high dollar suit vs a cheap one, or a nice pair of loafers compared to a 20$ pair at walmart. Or how about that expensive watch on your wrist instead of the 10$ Timex?

Cost is relative, you spend more on things you feel justifed spending them on. If you wear T-Shirts often, it makes sense to invest a little more in them to get good quality shirts in styles that appeal to you.

Tapout sure is up there, and that is because of the company and the people who typically wear them ruin it for everyone, but from a design aspect I prefer their simplicity over the shit splatter designs on Affliction, I like the Tapout logo, but I still only own one shirt, and like in Mudge's case, it was a gift.

I admit I have a couple shirts in this style, but I buy my shirts based on if they have awesome looking lions on them, so I have a variety of shirts of many styles.....also all of my boxer shorts have a lion on them somewhere, Express has been helpful in that area....

A timex watch FEELS like a piece of shit. You know its a piece the moment you pick it up. A T-shirt is different. You dont normally know how bad a shirt is until you wash it. Does it fall apart, does it fade, does it shrink? Who cares? Its a fucking T-shirt!

That being said, there are certain things I will pay extra money for and things I do not. A T-shirt serves no function other than providing little warmth. I would prefer it not have defects, so Ill pay a tad extra for a brand that I know wont fall apart. But $50? Get the fuck out of here. Why would I pay that when I KNOW of other shirts that dont have flaws? Its just silly.

I don't know, I got a free shirt from a Solar equipment manufacturer that was made of Hemp, it felt heavy and you could feel that it was shitty. When I tried it on it felt like they had made it out of pressed elephant dung as there were still pieces of unprocessed plant fiber poking me all over. The thing is they probably paid good money for those things because it was Eco-Friendly....

"Feels" like a piece of shit? Based on what? That opinion stems purely from your personal feelings about that watch. Does it keep accurate time? Yes. Does it serve the purpose that a watch should? Definately. This argument is the same as "A T-shirt serves no function other than providing little warmth". Sure it does. It serves as a function of your personal style the same way the watch does. Don't get me wrong, I don't wear Timex either, I generally wear decent, lower to mid range watches like Seiko/Citizen or Bulova. They aren't the nicest watches out there, but they have some style to them and are about as expensive as I feel comfortable spending on a timepiece.

That said, do I feel that someone who pays 10k for a Tag or a Rolex is being "silly"? Of course not, as I said before cost is relative. If it is worth that to the individual shelling out the cash then it is worth the price asked of it. Hence the company being in business.

Once again, if one of the main staples of your wardrobe is the ol' T-shirt and jeans, it only makes sense to invest in nice shirts that fit your style, IF maintaining a certain level of style is important to you.

I buy tshirts suited for the hash... Such as:

Anybody who wears Affliction, Ed Hardy or something of the sort is a homo IMO.

Dont forget, a watch is considered "bling," while a shirt is considered...a shirt.
