Are preppers crazy or are you?

Went and bought some 5 gallon safety gas cans today and looked at some generators. Pretty compact but not sure you could fuel them for more than a week without storing some seroius gasoline.

I live in jersey and the way these hurricanes and storms keep rolling through and our gas shortage and ration I've bought 5,5 gallon tank. There filled with high octane gas and there's stabil in it to keep it fresh. I went through hell when sandy came through. No power for a week for most in my area. Most of my food went bad because the fridge wasn't on. I saved some meat tho by putting it in a cooler with ice block. It took me 3 days to find a gas station in my area that had power and gas

We sell freezers that can run on one solar panel.... Thats a must have.

Longworth, glad to hear you made it through OK.

I lived in Florida for 13 years and it's absolutely asinine to NOT be prepared for storms and power outages.
They're a fact of life down there.
You still can't believe how many people aren't prepared. Ridiculous.
I would see it every time a storm went past (we didn't get any direct hits while I was there but glancing blows from feeder bands do plenty of damage).
I understand the people further north not used to dealing with a hurricane but now they know to be prepared.
Guess what, it won't matter.
Next time a storm rolls up the eastern seaboard you'll still see people lined up at gas stations and a run on the grocery stores after the storm passes.
Sometimes it seems lessons learned don't stay learned.

Just my rant. No need to pay attention.

I wouldnt call my self a prepper, but i do own many firearms, reload, and would not stick around the city if it came to a loss of gov't. I would take off to the sierra mountains and hunt, fish, and farm for food. I would take all my farming supplies and caravan to the mountains to build a permanent shelter and live off the land. While the rest of society rapes, kills, and fights over every thing.

This is my general feeling but, if/when it happens I'm pretty sure the primal survival instinct will take over.

We have a bug out plan. We've got a special spot all picked out where shelter, fresh water and food are plentiful.

I use to be good friends with the owner of pinnacles son. He gave me a dragon skin to wear under the conditions I return it when i get back... The fn Navy said nope your wearing standard issue... IBA... The dragon skin was like 35lbs lighter and I am a comms guy so now add my cypto shit to my gear... My legs were jacked when I got back.

Better to buy a generator and water. We didn't have any power after the hurricane and needed a generator in a bad way. This can power your fridge and you should have food in there. I bought a generator after a week and the power came on the same night. lol But at least I have one now. Oh and we had NO ICE. It sucked so maybe buy a ice maker too along with your generator. I have a shitload of MRE's also I saved. (Military food bags)

I would live like that in a heart beat... Live in the woods, hunt, trap, fish. First thing I would do is call my friends who are medics at the naval hospital to get the hook up on anti biotics and other medications. If not the woods then my brother in laws house on 32 acres. His house has a vantage point on top of the land that can over see every thing with a high powered rifle. Every member of my family all ready owns a horse for hunting purposes so transportation is fine.

Im a prepper/survivalist...I bought 20 acres in the woods on a lake years ago and put a small off grid cabin on it...Im in it right now...I have a well on my land...I have a underground root cellar that keeps a constant temp of 55 degrees all year round no matter what the weather is like...I store canned food, dry goods, cured meats, medical supplies, weapons, ammo, keep a bug out bag in all our vehicles, and lots more...I try to be prepared for any natural disaster...I am really into being self sustainable and have been building up my livestock and homstead for 4 years now...I love it!
