I do my back workout then legs the next day, i did a pb deadlift last night 160kg which i was happy about! anyway i recover very well fromm my workouts so no aches n pains today but as its squats tonight do you think im doing to much to my lower back in a short space of time? i was just thinking of changeing days what do ya,s think! ive been making steady weight increases to my squat but i dont want to injure my back.

I make my back days and leg days on opposite ends of the week

Yeah i think im going to change it up, currently my days go like this

Monday/ shoulders
tue/ rest
wed/ back
thurs/ legs
friday/ chest
satuday/biceps,tris,abs
sunday/ rest

think i might swap shoulders to back, to get enough rest between legs

5 days a week, wow. You don't think maybe thats a little much?
what about ;
day 1 quads /calves
day 2 chest
rest
day 3 back
day 4 shoulders/hams( insert hams on backday if you like it better)

rest 2 days and start over

I only do 5 days because, i dnt like to do arms after back, and tris after chest, so on the saturday i just like to hit them on there own as my arms are pretty much spent by the end of my chest and back workouts.

so when do you hit bi,s and tri,s? after your back and chest workouts?

if I do them at all it will be one of those two days

So why do you need to do them again?? You might be overtraining a little.

I usually do deadlifts on leg days because I work my lower back & legs at the same time, because it makes sense.

deadlifts and squats in the same session! must be a killer, doing them different days you will be able to go heavier.

i do my arms on saturday probably because im bored lol ill try and keep out on a saturday

I do squats first and deadlifts last. I seem to be able to do the same deadlift on days when I do squats as compared to different days. Besides, other big compounds tax you almost as much as squats anyways.
But yea, it is a killer on the quads. One day I was going home after just squats, calf raises, leg extensions and deadlifts and i fell down the steep hill leading to the car park because i couldnt physically hold my own bodyweight up haha

haha i can imagine, i might give it a try one day. ive just done my legs tonight, squats, calf raises, extensions and lunges i cannot move!! love it

I never have my clients do back and leg workouts adjacent to one another, especially if deadlifts and squats are part of the program. The lower back is normally a "slow to recover" muscle group and of course can be prone to bad injury. Although you have been cool so far, I would change your split and separate your back/leg days.

I find my back and legs recover equally. I experience far more DOMS in my legs though.

And because it's "slow to recover" doesn't that mean it's better to train it only once a week rather than hit it quite hard on leg day then go and do lower back work on another day?? Sorry that statement doesn't seem to make much sense if you see what I mean.
