I was in a rush for a meal today and threw a can of tuna in a bowl with a small can of fat free baked beans. I nuked it for a minute and wow!! this was really good. Are baked beans a decent bulking food? I may make this simple meal a staple in my diet.

You have to be careful with baked beans - they are often canned in a sugary-salty syrup that has little health benefits and it also pushes the GI sky high. But if you get the GOOD stuff (the organic type ones canned in low sugar, low salt mixes) then it is fine on a bulk.

figured it was too good to be true, i used the bush's brand baked beans. Maybe ill look for some at my neighborhood organic food store tomorrow.

Surely rather than organic, low salt/ low sugar backed beans which I meant to be 'healthier' would be ok. I thought baked beans were protein tho?

They are protein they just aren't a complete source, so you still want to eat some sort of lean meat with them. They are more of a carb source.

so the tuna beans combo is actually not a bad meal then?

i would say as long as they dont have a bunch of added sugars in the beans. Just have to check the labels, but besides that i would say it sounds good. You coud use black beans, or some kidney beans too. The Busch's baked beans we have contain 6gms of sugar per serv. while plain black beans and kidney beans have none. Its all up to how picky you are about it.

I personally think that tuna and baked beans taste :barf: would prob go for two slices of no sugar whole wheat toast with baked beans on one and a two poached egg whites on the other.

Yeah I tried this tuna/bb combo yesterday and it sucked. That's what I get for taking culinary advice from lifters (nutrition first, taste last)...
