Hi I am training for the fire fighter academy and am looking to gain strength and bulk up by a good 5 hopefully 10+ pounds in 2 months. I am 23, 5'5 and with all the running I have been doing I now weigh about 145 possibly a little less. (3-4 weeks ago I weighed about 147-148) I am in pretty lean shape and workout 4 times a week (Chest/Tri. Back/Bi, Shoulders, Legs; all with running and sometimes additional running)

I was hoping someone could give me some advice on what to take. Currently I am looking at EAS MyoPro Whey Shakes and EAS Creatine. Does anyone know of another brand that is better or some other supplements to take? Also I was reading that you shouldn't take creatine with OJ, so what is the best way to take it and how much of it should you take? Any other suggestions on workout, supplements, or anything else would be appreciated.

Thanks

EAS is decent but way overpriced.

Basic Supplements:

Multi-Vitamin
Multi-Mineral
Protein
EFA's

that would be very basic and what I consider essential for anybody involved in fitness, bodybuilding, etc.

Others I use:

Creatine
Glucosomine/Chrondroiten
Glutamine
MRP's
Extra vitamin C & E
ZMA (before bed only)
PH/PS's
Milk Thistle
BCAA's

Thanks Robert

I am take Centrum Performance for a Multi-Vitamin.

What would you recommend instead of EAS for Creatine and Whey Shakes? and is there a brand of EFA you recommend?

Robert, what EFA product are you using?

Mult-Vitamin & Mineral I use TwinLab, creatine I use San V-12 (until my own product is ready ;) ) and whey I use www.allthewhey.com

From this forum and other research I have just done I think this is the core of what I need

Multi-Vitamins - Centrum Performance
Multi-Minerals - ???
EFA - Optimum Fish Oil
Creatine - San V-12
Whey - All the Whey or Optimum 100% Whey
Glutamine - Prolab N Large 2

If anyone know of a better or a good alternative to those brands please let me know.

Wait is Prolab N Large 2 a Glutamine product or should I take that and something like Twinlab L-Glutamine?

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones

oh, and it would not be a bad idea to take some Glucosomine/Chrondroiten/MSM, I just bought Pro-Labs.
Where can I got those? I checked bulknutrition.com for them with no luck so far.

Optimum Fish Oil (100 sioftgel) $2.89
TwinLab Multi-Mineral (180 capsules) $8.41
Optimum Glutamine Powder (1000 Grams) $34.99
Optimum 100% Whey Protein (10 lbs) $46.66
Optimum Creatine Powder (1200 Grams) $26.94
ProLab Glucosomine Chondroitin MSM (90 Tablets) $13.91

I am planning to buy all this on MuscleShoppe.com are these the best products, brands to buy and at a good price? Should I possibly be looking at something else?

Since most of the stuff I am buying is from Optimum, are they a good quality company?

Should I be buying 100% Whey Protein or another type of Whey product?

I looked at the San V-12 Creatine but it wasn't at MuscleShoppe.com and the sites that did have it seems to be a lot more the Optimum Creatine. Is there a big difference between the two?

Thanks

looks alright. but why not go with bulk nutrition or millenium since they sponsor this site

I honestly looked at both those sites and they are slightly more (by some change each) plus MuscleShoppe has free shipping over $100, but the big thing was that they didn't have some of the stuff I wanted to buy. Like ProLab Glucosomine Chondroitin MSM or TwinLab Multi-Mineral (I'm trying to stick to brand people recommend since I don't know much about all the companies [Optimum and TwinLab seem like the best ones]) and some extra vitamin stuff I wanted to pick up (Vitalab B-12 and TwinLab Iron) Sorry I'm trying to buy everything at once to get it ASAP.

BTW Is VitaLab any good? I couldn't find another brand that sells B-12 tablets

I'm somewhat in the same boat

I'm training for the police academy. Just found Anthony Ellis' program on skinnyguy.net and have been looking for suppliments. Here's what I've found. (I don't claim to know anything about these or weight lifting.)
If anyone wants to add comments, please do.

5# 100% whey protein isolate $33 shipped (about $6.50/lb)
22# 100% whey protein isolate $140 shipped (about $6.36/lb)

15# 100% whey protein isolate $96.97 ($6.46 per pound)

I seem to remember reading that isolate is "better." Maybe it causes less gas. Who knows?

This guy has an ebay store with seemingly inexpensive creatine and glutamine: no idea the quality or legitimacy:
http://stores.ebay.com/HTXvitamins_W0QQsspagenameZl2QQtZkm

...

www.1fast400.com prices
ZMA 60 days $16
Optimum Nutrition creatine powder 2000g $38
MRM glutamine 1000g $34
MRM creatine 1000g $21
TwinLabs Dual Tabs 200 capsules $21

For whey, I would stick with Optimum Nutrition 100% whey (from bulknutrition.com) or buy in bulk from allthewhey.com. A few bucks is worth it for better taste. L-Glutamine is best taken on an empty stomach at least 30 min before a meal. Or you can take it with carbs, but if you have protein in your stomach, the L-Glutamine won't be absorbed well at all do its light molecular weight of 146.14 daltons. You could take glutamine peptides with food instead of L-glutamine. It weighs 217.24 daltons, and will be more readily absorbed.

How can you say that EAS is overpriced? EAS Myowhey is 6lbs, 22.95. Beat that. (22g of protein, 90 servings)

I looked it up, and the first ingredient listed in whey concentrate. I prefer whey isolate, according to Anthony Ellis, it causes less gas and is better absorbed.
